Proud Dad-To-Be Jumps Out of Plane into Cloud of Colored Smoke for Dramatic Gender Reveal

Share

For Timothy Goodwin, revealing the gender of his third child was an event he wanted to celebrate in a high-flying manner.

Even before the child was conceived, Goodwin knew he wanted to skydive out of a plane in front of family and friends for an unforgettable gender reveal celebration.

“Timothy, my fiancé, actually thought of the idea about 8-10 months ago when we were trying for baby number 3,” expectant mother Angela Hewett told Liftable, a section of The Western Journal.

“So we knew the minute we seen the positive pregnancy test that he would be skydiving to reveal the gender.”

Goodwin was joined by his mother, Lori Blackwell, who agreed to go skydiving with him. Neither had been skydiving before and admitted they were pretty nervous and excited for the big day.

The jump and smoke-colored reveal, which happened at Cape Fear Regional Jetport in North Carolina, was made possible thanks to the willing participation of Skydive Coastal Carolinas.

The company kept the baby’s gender a secret and prepared to release pink or blue smoke at the conclusion of the jump.

“We invited about 60-80 of our closest friends and family to join us,” Hewett told Liftable.

“All sorts of emotions were going through my mind that day!”

“I was scared and nervous that things wouldn’t go as planned, before the plane even left the ground the waterworks started because I was just not prepared for my fiancé to be jumping out of a plane!”

Goodwin experienced the pre-jump jitters, combined with the anticipation of finding out whether he was adding a boy or a girl to the family.

“I was nervous, I’m really scared of heights, and I was anxious to see what the gender of our baby was,” Goodwin told Liftable.

Goodwin and Blackwell made the tandem jump out of the plane and soared through the air before landing in a field of grass, where pink-colored smoke greeted them.

The couple is thrilled to welcome a baby girl, adding that they never expected their gender reveal to reach so many people.

Blackwell, the baby’s happy expectant grandma, told WECT that the jump made her feel closer to her son and was a memorable event for the whole family.

“It’s the greatest bonding experience the son and his mom,” Blackwell said. “He played football I couldn’t play football, so this is really my first opportunity to do something of what he would like to do and in such a big way.”

Congratulations to this sweet family, and may your baby always know how loved she is and how her birth was so joyfully anticipated.
