NFL Legend Jim Kelly's Wife: 'I Don't Know What God Is Going To Do...'

Share

While NFL legend Jim Kelly was in surgery on Feb. 8, his supportive wife, Jill Kelly, was in the waiting room, praying as she always does.

The night before his scheduled surgery, Kelly wrote an Instagram post that explained the reason for her husband’s surgery.

As always, Jill asked her 50,000-plus followers to pray for her family as Jim endured yet another hospitalization.

And per the norm with Jill, who regularly credits God for sustaining her through it all, she asked how she could be praying for others.

“While I am waiting, I will be praying too,” she wrote, “so let me know if you’d like me to pray for you or someone you love.”

Because it’s the Bill’s bye week and I was cleaning and found this and couldn’t resist. #12 ❤️

With her husband hospitalized and their immediate future uncertain, it would have been easy for Jill to sit in the waiting room filled with worry and anxiety.

But rather than focusing on herself, Jill took the quiet morning as an opportunity to pray for others.

Are you inspired by Jill Kelly's strong faith in God?

With her Bible opened and her journal in hand, Jill poured her heart out to the Lord.

She prayed that she and her husband would find their ultimate satisfaction in life from Him, not from their circumstances, and not in how God might choose to answer her prayers.

I’m writing your names down in my journal. And I’m praying. I don’t know what God is going to do… But here’s what I do know… He’s God, and He is faithful! We can’t do this without Him. If I did not trust God, if I did not have His Word to run to 24/7…I would be completely lost and hopeless. But because He is who He says He is… I have EVERYTHING I need. And so do you. The trials and suffering in this life… They remind us of our greater need. Because more than anything else, whether we realize it or not, we need Him more! {Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12}

She wrote down all the names of the people who had responded to her Instagram post with a prayer request.

“Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to pray for others while I wait for Jim’s surgery to end,” Jill wrote. “As you take care of me, I want to take care of others by praying for them.”

Jill posted a photo of the moment on Instagram, using her platform once again to explain to others how God is her sustainer and provider.

“I don’t know what God is going to do,” Jill wrote. “But here’s what I do know…He’s God, and He is faithful!”

“If I did not trust God, if I did not have His Word to run to 24/7…I would be completely lost and hopeless.”

Jill is not preoccupied with asking God to take away the problems and trials of her life, rather, she believes that life’s greatest sorrows are a reminder that we need God more than we need anything.

We don’t need a pain-free life, we need a God-filled life, which gives us the strength to weather any storm and face any circumstance.

“Because He is who He says He is…I have EVERYTHING I need,” Jill wrote. “And so do you.”
