Fire Department Syncs Lights on 5 Trucks to Christmas Music for Ultimate Holiday Video
A Colorado fire department is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas with a customized light show, set to music from “The Nutcracker” and featuring five of their fire trucks.
Many families enjoy the annual tradition of looking at neighborhood Christmas lights.
Many neighborhoods get pretty into it, lighting up the whole block and enjoying the faces of smiling children all month long.
A handful of homeowners even feature their own Christmas light shows, usually synced to music that listeners can access through the radio.
While the Sterling Fire Department in Sterling, Colorado, doesn’t have a traditional yard to decorate, they have made an impressive light show that only a fire department could pull off.
Last year, Captain Jason Bostron initiated the department’s first fire truck light show.
He chose “Carol of the Bells,” for the music, and got to work syncing lights from five different fire engines to fit the music.
The video was a smashing success, prompting Bostron to create a fresh new show for 2018.
This year, Bostron and his crew chose the famous “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” from “The Nutcracker,” for the music.
Bostron also threw in some flamethrowers and was even able to convince Santa Claus to make a special appearance.
The lighting effects were filmed separately and later edited to sync with the music, KUSA-TV reported.
Bostron spent around 20 hours filming and editing the video, all accomplished while off duty.
The fire department hopes the video will spread some Christmas cheer and put smiles on the faces of all those kids who are enamored with both fire trucks and Christmas lights.
The video features five fire trucks parked at the station at night. The flamethrowers were positioned between the trucks, making for an extra exciting effect.
The light show started off calmly enough, as the music’s introduction is quite delicate.
But by the time the music picked up, all five trucks were throwing out their very best lighting efforts.
The music strayed from the typical classical rendition into a techno-pop sound, complete with laser sound effects somewhere around the third minute.
Fans are delighted with the video, agreeing it has made a fun memory for their families this season.
