Evangelist Anne Graham Lotz Reveals Breast Cancer 'Pray for God To Heal Me'

Share

Anne Graham Lotz, the second daughter of the late evangelist Billy Graham, announced on Sept. 4 that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Lotz, 70, is an author and Christian evangelist, deemed “the best preacher in the family,” by her late father, Reverand Graham.

On her personal website, Lotz wrote that she received her diagnosis on a very significant date in her life, Aug. 17.

The date coincides with the day she found her husband unconscious in a pool in 2015 after he suffered cardiac arrest while swimming.

“On the afternoon of August 17, 2015, between 3:00 and 3:30, as you may know, I discovered my husband, Danny, unresponsive in our pool. Two days later he was Home!” Lotz wrote.

“Three years to the day, on the afternoon of August 17, 2018, at the very same time of day… 3:00 to 3:30 … I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote.

Lotz found the coincidence to be disturbing initially, but soon after, she found it comforting as she leaned on her faith in Christ.

“When I realized the strange ‘coincidence’ of the timing, I came to the chilling conclusion that it was an assignment from the enemy,” she said.

“But just as that thought was forming, I heard the soft, gentle whisper of the Spirit, reminding me that it was on a Friday, during that very same time … between 3:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon … that God’s Passover Lamb was sacrificed.”

Lotz is preparing for surgery on Sept. 18.

She has asked for willing hearts to pray for her and her family as they trust God with the process and the outcome of her cancer journey.

“Pray for God to heal me in whichever way He deems would bring Him the most glory,” Lotz wrote.

“Healing without surgery, with surgery, with surgery and follow-up treatment, or through the greater miracle of the resurrection.”

Lotz is referring to her cancer as “fuel for the fire,” a difficult season that will ultimately result in the strengthening and maturing of her soul to be more like Christ.

“So I am left to worship and totally trust our God who is ultimately in control. Of everything,” she said.
