Brady Bunch's 'Marcia' Maureen McCormick Honors 'Mrs. Brady' with Tribute To Say Happy Mother's Day
It takes a village to raise strong women, and Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to honor the many different mothers who have come alongside us during our lifetime.
Cheers to our biological mothers, as well as the teachers, neighbors, friends, mentors, and spiritual mothers who have made us who we are today.
Maureen McCormick, who played beloved Brady Bunch character Marcia Brady, had a mom village when she was younger, too. McCormick had a special bond with her television mom, the late Florence Henderson.
Henderson was 82 when she passed away in Nov. 2016. The Brady Bunch matriarch has always remained in the hearts of her TV kids, which McCormick talked about on Mother’s Day on May 13.
“On Mother’s Day, I am thinking of my TV mom, too!” McCormick wrote on social media. “She was a mother to so many all over the world!”
True, so many children looked up to Mrs. Brady as a wise and caring mother who could teach us all a thing or two, her parenting executed with grace and poise.
And plenty of adult women looked up to Carol Brady as a model mother, or as today’s young kids would say, “mom goals.”
“And she spread her love and laughter wherever she went!” McCormick continued. “Love and miss you, Flo!”
While younger Brady Bunch sister Jan complained that every day was way too focused on Marcia (cue her famous whining) there was no complaining when it came to Mrs. Brady. She was a joyful soul who took her mothering everywhere she went.
“At the time, she was like a second mother, but she was so much more than that,” McCormick stated, according to Yahoo. “She had incredible love for everyone and wanted to spread that joy and light and laughter wherever she went.”
On her personal Facebook page, McCormick posted a photo of the duo, dressed in festive black for an event. She wrote that her “TV mom” was there for her during her impressionable adolescence.
Henderson’s mothering kindness extended beyond McCormick’s teen years and into adulthood. After all, once a mother, always a mother.
“Hope you are smiling in heaven as we do when we see your beautiful face,” McCormick wrote. A lovely Mother’s Day tribute to one of America’s favorite moms.
