Watch Every Golden Buzzer Performance from 'America's Got Talent: The Champions'
“America’s Got Talent: The Champions” has brought some of our favorite acts from all over the world into one show. Fan favorites like Susan Boyle, Courtney Hadwin and Darci Lynne Farmer have graced the stage once again for their chance to prove that they are the best of the best.
This spinoff of the popular summer show is set up a little differently, however, leaving some fans confused and frustrated. According to NBC’s website, the first five episodes of the show will showcase ten “champions” who either won past seasons or got really close.
In each episode, two acts will advance to compete to be named the “AGT” champion. One act is chosen by a panel of super fans representing each of the 50 states while the other is chosen by the judges with the coveted golden buzzer.
Watch all of the acts that were golden buzzer-worthy below and let us know if you agree with the judges’ choices:
Susan Boyle Earns First Golden Buzzer of the Season
Susan Boyle first surprised the judges on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Even though she didn’t win the season, she did see a lot of success afterward. “‘Britain’s Got Talent’ absolutely changed my life,” she said.
When she walked on stage, Simon Cowell was visibly excited to see a familiar face. Just like in her first audition from 2009 she completely shocked the judges and the audience with her performance of The Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” I think we all agreed with Mel B. when she told Boyle that the Golden Buzzer was something she deserved 10 years ago.
11-year-old Angelica Hale Earns Second Golden Buzzer of Her ‘AGT’ Career
Angelica Hale first won the country’s heart in 2017 when she made it to the Season 12 finale in 2017 when she was only 9 years old. Now she’s back, two years older, and has even more talent.
There’s no doubt that this young but powerful girl’s rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” deserved the Golden Buzzer that Howie Mandel pressed, making this the second golden buzzer in her “AGT” career.
Watch the performance that Howie described as ripping “the ceiling off of this theater.”
Deadly Games Has Returned with More Death-Defying Stunts
The knife-throwing duo Deadly Games has returned to the “AGT” stage with even more death-defying stunts. The married couple first appeared on the show in 2016 and wowed the judges instantly.
Their performance on “AGT: The Champions” was no less disappointing. Heidi Klum thought they deserved a second chance to compete and pressed the coveted golden buzzer.
Kechi Returns to the ‘AGT’ Stage, Simon Cowell: ‘This Is a Champion’
Kechi Okwuchi, originally from Kenya, won the hearts of millions when she first walked on the “AGT” stage and shared her story of survival. In 2005, she was one of two survivors in a tragic plane crash. During her long road to recovery, through hundreds of surgeries and years of therapy, music became an escape.
She finally got a chance to show her musical talent on Season 12 with her rendition of “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. Even though she didn’t win the season, Okwuchi later said that her time on “America’s Got Talent” was the first time that she wasn’t recognized as a survivor, but as a singer.
After finishing her performance on “America’s Got Talent: The Champions,” Simon Cowell made her heart drop when he said of her performance, “I didn’t really like it that much.” As the audience began boo-ing his comments, Simon finished his thought as he reached across the judges’ table to press the golden buzzer. “I actually loved it!”
As Cowell hugged the stunned singer he told her, “I’ve always wanted to do that for you. You so deserve it. This is what defines the word champion.” Watch her emotional performance below:
Ukrainian Kseniya Simonova’s Sand Art Gave Terry Crews ‘Goosebumps’
Who knew that such a compelling story could be told through sand? Ukrainian artist Kseniya Simonova is able to use a medium that is found on a common playground to introduce viewers to a new story in a unique way.
Simonova’s talent helped her win “Ukraine’s Got Talent” back in 2009, but now she’s in America fighting for her chance to be crowned “AGT” world champion. Little did she know that the show’s host, Terry Crews, who Simonova knows from Old Spice and Gillette commercials would press the coveted golden buzzer.
She later told People, “In my country, there was no Golden Buzzer, no option like this at all, and honestly, I couldn’t imagine that could happen to me. I was curious about how it looks like from the inside of the golden rain (of confetti). I am a person with strong nerves but that melts you, totally melts your heart and it is difficult to control yourself. That feels like a fairytale!”
These five contestants, along with the five chosen by the panel of superfans, will continue on to the next step of the competition, each of them hoping to walk away with the “AGT” world champion title. Who are you rooting for?
