Little Girl Sobs Tears of Joy After Finding Out She's Being Adopted on Birthday

Share

An emotional video of a little girl finding out she is getting adopted has gone viral for good reason.

Paige Zezulka shared the video to her Facebook page on August 24. She and her husband, Daniel started their foster parent journey when Kai, who was only 5 months at the time, needed a home.

They didn’t know that he had an older sister or that the biological mother was pregnant with a third child.

The Zezulkas were eventually asked if they would be willing to also foster Lita, who was only a few weeks old at the time. Paige told Good Morning America that she agreed without even talking to her husband. “I knew he would have said yes anyway,” she said.

Soon after Lita moved into their home, the Zazulkas and the then-foster parents of Ivey, the eldest sibling, began preparing to transition Ivey to live with her siblings once again.

The two sets of foster parents had been arranging play dates so they could spend time with each other and couldn’t ignore the bond they shared. They knew that the three siblings needed to live with each other.

They were expecting the transition to be difficult, but it was surprisingly the opposite. Paige said, “God was amazing. The first night she moved in, she asked if she could call us mom and dad. The second day, she asked if she could stay forever.”

They worked tirelessly to make that request happen, but they continuously ran into roadblock after roadblock in the foster care system.

“It’s hard because the foster care system has a lot of emphasis on reunification, but so many kids live for years with foster families,” Paige said. “(Ivey) spent two years with us and her siblings have only lived with us. It would be removing her from her family.”

Daniel and Paige finally received the wonderful news that they were approved to adopt the three precious children on the now 10-year-old’s birthday.

They knew that she had been praying to be adopted so they crafted a sweet way to surprise her with the life-changing news. They put together “one last gift” for her birthday and recorded the emotional moment.

Paige wrote, “This will be my favorite video I ever share. This was the day we told our daughter that we were going to be able to adopt her (and her brother and sister)!”

The couple gave Ivey a box and told her to read the message inside. The tender-hearted girl read to herself and asked for validation, “I’m getting adopted?!”

She instantly melted into a puddle of joyful tears. Her prayers had been answered.

Paige and Daniel wrapped their arms around their tender-hearted daughter and promised that they would love her and protect her and her younger siblings.

The video understandably went viral; it has been viewed almost 10 million times on Facebook as of Friday morning.

The couple officially adopted Ivey, Kai, and Lita on August 23, 2018. Paige wrote, “God’s timing is perfect!”

Paige just hopes that their family’s story encourages others to consider fostering/adopting. She ended her post, “Adoption is amazing and we want others to know that adopting older children and sibling groups can be the most beautiful adventure you could ever have!”

I’m sure the Zezulkas will remember this precious moment in their family’s history forever and now they’ll be able to make many more memories in the future as a divinely built family of five.
