BREAKING: Alex Trebek Has Stage 4 Cancer, 'Jeopardy' Host Vows 'To Fight This'
“Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek shared heartbreaking news Wednesday, March 6, 2019: He has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
He shared the news in a Youtube video on the show’s channel.
Trebek said he decided to share the news in order to keep with his “longtime policy of being open and transparent” with the fans of “Jeopardy!”
The iconic TV host was diagnosed earlier this week, and despite the low odds of survival he says he is hopeful and ready to fight.
“Now normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working,” he said. “And with the love and support of my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
“Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years! So help me. Keep the faith and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.”
The heartbreaking news comes more than a year after Trebek fell in October 2017 and was later diagnosed with a subdural hematoma.
Several people have expressed their condolences since the video was published, including Ken Jennings who was a “Jeopardy!” star in 2004 with 74 wins totaling $2.52 million.
I’ve said this before but Alex Trebek is in a way the last Cronkite: authoritative, reassuring TV voice you hear every night, almost to the point of ritual.

In a later tweet he said, “One thing I know for a fact: Alex is very aware of how much he means to millions of people, and how we will be pulling for him…I hope that’s a comfort.”
Nancy Sinatra, Frank Sinatra’s eldest daughter and iconic singer in the 60’s, also expressed her support of Trebek in the midst of such horrible news.

Some people are even sharing their own experiences with pancreatic cancer showing just how many people’s lives this horrible disease touches. Elisha Krauss from The Daily Wire shared her uncle’s journey and is praying for a similar outcome for Trebek.
An Uncle on my husband’s side was once diagnosed with “terminal” pancreatic cancer. With doctors, chemo, radiation, homeopathy, diet changes and lots of prayer he’s been cancer free for 10 yrs!!! Prayers for #AlexTrebek to have the same results.
