Pregnant Mom Delivers Biggest Newborn Dr. Has Ever Seen, Baby is Size of a 'Toddler'
Most mothers-to-be have one concern: that their babies be born happy and healthy. Birth weight doesn’t usually factor into it too much.
Except when it’s something out of the ordinary. And this “little” kiddo was definitely not your average newborn.
When Chrissy Corbit saw how big her belly was getting, she knew her baby was going to be larger than average. “My wife wasn’t getting any bigger, she was the same weight for about a month,” her husband told Inside Edition.
“But the belly was getting bigger and bigger. It was like she had a huge beach ball and it was getting more and more inflated.”
Still, neither of them predicted how big their newborn would end up being. Even the hospital staff wasn’t prepared for what they were about to encounter.
“When the pediatrician showed her to me across the curtain, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s huge,’ ” Chrissy said. “I couldn’t believe it. It was like I delivered a toddler.”
After the very necessary C-section, Chrissy said she heard cheering throughout the operating room. “I’ve never had that happen before,” she said.
“It was so funny because she had a C-section so all the blankets were over her so you couldn’t see what was going on,” Larry Corbitt recalled to ABC News.
“The doctor said, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s going to be 15-pounds.’
“I remember the doctor saying, ‘I don’t think this baby is going to end. Are there two of them?’”
The doctors admitted that they’ve never delivered a baby so massive. “They were throwing out numbers and when they showed her to me and said 13.5 I couldn’t believe it,” Chrissy said.
“Her cheeks were so chunky and she was just so fat,” her husband explained. “She was so gorgeous, of course.”
The baby, named Carleigh Brooke Corbitt, was so big that her parents had to call diaper companies to make sure they could exchange their diapers for larger ones.
They donated the rest of the smaller baby clothes to a local church.
“She’s just a happy baby, she smiles all the time,” Chrissy said. “I can’t get enough of her.”
All the best to the new baby and parents. We’re glad everything went well and that the poor momma was able to get a c-section!
