Christian Landlord Sends Letter About Jesus and Offers Free Rent to Tenants
It’s been said many times before that the smallest blessings sometimes make the biggest differences and can even turn around a bad day.
No matter what baggage we are carrying, a small smile or an unexpected gift can bring sunshine into our cloudy days.
Sometimes, acts of kindness simply make a powerful statement to the recipients.
When 8-year-old Lariah Binns held a birthday party that none of her friends could make it to, a group of cops decided to make the little girl’s day.
They poured in one-by-one for her birthday party, giving her cards, balloons and gift cards.
More recently, a tenant posted a picture of a letter from his landlords in Seattle on Reddit.
The letter began, “As you may or may not have figured out, (redacted) and I are followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ and we try to live by the principals taught in the Bible.”
The landlord went on to talk about the history of the building, how his father died of a heart attack, so he became a carpenter — that way, his mother wouldn’t be left with a loan from the bank and no tangible building to make it worth it.
“I take pride in this, his last building, and try to keep it well maintained, as finances allow,” he wrote.
He then talked about the 50th year in the Bible being a year of “jubilee,” and connects that to the 50th anniversary of his father’s building.
That’s when they decided to not charge their tenants for the entire month of November. Their rent for that month would be completely free.
If you’ve ever rented a house or apartment, you know that rent is something that you have to budget for and can take up the majority of your paycheck.
The landlords then asked that the money their tenants save that month go toward charity or be given back to the community in some shape or form.
Just this small blessing can make a world of a difference. It’s always important to pay it forward and bestow kindness on one another, just as Jesus did.
