Reason Why Christian Actor Chris Pratt Is Fasting for 21 Days Is Turning Heads in Hollywood
If you’re a “Parks and Rec” fan, then there is no doubt that you are a fan of Andy Dwyer, a.k.a. famous actor Chris Pratt.
Andy’s antics leave everyone in tears of laughter, and this sense of humor is carried over into Pratt’s real life. He is known for his jokes and lighthearted nature, but he always incorporates this into his genuine character.
For instance, a 181-year-old tree was struck by lightning, so Pratt decided to turn it into a table, but not without cracking some jokes!
He said that he renamed the tree “Michael Douglas Fir” and that he wanted Nick Offerman, known as Ron Swanson on “Parks and Rec,” to “make [him] the dopest table in history fit for a family of Vikings!!!”
But most importantly, Chris Pratt is known for his outward expression of Christian faith as an actor, which is quite rare in the world of Hollywood.
But Pratt is outspoken about his faith, and he even recently spoke at the annual invite-only Christmas service in Disneyland.
This service honors Christ’s birth, and each year they invite someone to read verses from the Bible about Christ’s birth. This Christmas, Pratt read the verses in between the anthems of choirs in the background.
On Jan. 9 Pratt posted on his Instagram story, sharing that he was participating in a 21-day fast that replicates the “Daniel fast” from the Old Testament.
According to People, Pratt is usually quite focused on exercise and is weight-conscious to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He is using this very specific Biblical fast to not only lose a few pounds, but also to get closer to God.
“OK, hi, Chris Pratt here. Day three of the Daniel Fast, check it out, it’s 21 days of prayer and fasting,” he posted.
This fast includes only consuming foods from the seed, which includes “fresh, frozen, canned or dried vegetables and fruits. They’re also allowed any whole grains and legumes, liquid oils and nuts and seeds,” according to People.
Meat and animal products are not allowed. Sweeteners, dairy and processed foods are also off the menu. In addition, the only liquid that can be consumed is water.
With his upcoming movie, “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,” Pratt lightheartedly joked that by the time he starts doing press tours, he will “probably be hallucinating. Stay tuned,” he said.
It’s always encouraging to see that Christianity can still be alive in Hollywood — something Pratt is a huge advocate for. He believes that Christianity in Hollywood is not dead, and he is most certainly proving himself in his efforts to be open about his faith without shame.
It’s easy to respect a man with such confidence and openness in his faith in a world that isn’t always accepting of it. Thank you, Chris Pratt, for sharing your faith in Hollywood while still maintaining your humor and who you are!
