He Crashes Through Frozen Pond, Risks Life To Save Pup on Death's Doorstep
As winter is slowly thawing into spring, it is a little easier to look back at the icy storms that had caused turmoil in some parts of the world.
Cold conditions can sometimes create a winter nightmare with the presence of ice.
Frozen lakes and rivers are sometimes hard to detect, and, in the blink of an eye, you could become victim to the icy water that lies beneath. For wildlife, it happens quite often.
West Metro Fire Rescue, for example, had to rescue a deer who had fallen through the ice out in the Main Reservoir in Lakewood, Colorado in January.
A similar situation occurred in Russia on Dec. 7, 2014, but this time a dog was the animal in trouble.
A Russian man was hunting with his brother, his father, and a friend when all of a sudden, their dog Caesar fell through thin ice.
“We tried to call her, tried to look for sticks and boards to get close to her, but it did not work. My brother is strong in spirit, brave, he could not stand it and rushed to the rescue.”
And that’s where the video opens, the man’s brother is crawling out across the ice to the dog wearing only his underwear.
The poor dog can be heard barking and crying, calling out for help.
The brother breaks through the ice himself and falls into the freezing water, and then starts breaking the ice in order to get to their dog.
He finally makes it to the dog and carries her safely to the edge of the ice.
The dog struggles a little to stand, her limbs frozen from the cold water. But she finally manages to get up and shake herself off.
The brother swings himself out the frozen pool and wanders over to where his dry clothes are. We’re glad these two are okay and hope they found a quick way to warm up!
