Stranger Buys Elderly Man's Meal at McDonald's After Seeing Him Struggling To Pay
Our elders are people to be appreciated. They have great knowledge and experience that can teach us all a thing or two.
As much as these elders have to give, they sometimes need a helping hand themselves.
When Dave Love saw an elderly man in need, he knew he wanted to help.
As the elderly man dug deep to empty his pockets to pay for his McDonald’s meal in coins, Love stepped up in the kindest of ways.
Love paid for the man’s coffee and breakfast that he was obviously struggling to come up with the money for, according to the Irish Independent.
Love, who is a tradesman, knew that this elderly man needed a lift and also gave him 20 Australian dollars to spend the next time he needed a coffee and some food at his Bendigo, Australia, McDonald’s.
“I noticed an old man just putting a big pocketful of change on the counter,” Love told Coffs Coast’s Hit105.5.
“We only put a big pocketful of change up when we’ve emptied our money box or something like that… My heart melted.”
The elderly man greatly appreciated the gesture and said to Love, “Thank you very much… you’re a gentleman.”
Love told Coffs Coast’s Hit105.5, “He just reminded me of my dad. I’ve since learnt his story, he’s lost his daughter and his wife.
“He’s a real cute old man… I’d love to just go to his house and have a cup of tea with him and talk, that would mean a lot,” Love added.
Love’s partner Melanie Langley secretly videotaped the act of kindness, and the video has since gone viral.
She posted the video on Facebook with the caption, “This man melts my heart… Your true character is revealed when nobody’s watching.”
The video has been viewed more than 3 million times and shared more than 47,000 times.
For Love, this generous act was not only necessary, but a part of who he is.
“We’re Aussie. That’s what we do for each other,” he explained.
