Woman Stopped by Cop Has No Clue That Boyfriend Is Behind Car with Surprise
When planning a proposal, there are many things you have to consider. Filmed, or not? In front of a large group, or in an intimate setting? Lots of fanfare, or simple? Pranky, or straightforward?
You also have to take stock of your assets. What do you have and who do you know that can help you make your special moment memorable?
A young man named Kenneth knew what he wanted to do, so he went to the Miami Beach Police Department for help.
The proposal was caught on tape as an officer pulled Kenneth and his girlfriend over. The officer led them to the back of their car, perhaps on the pretense of looking at tags or rear lights, but then he turned to Kenneth.
“Is there anything you want to say?” he asked.
“I just want you to marry me,” Kenneth said, getting down on one knee and facing his girlfriend. After a moment, his girlfriend covered her face with her hands, realizing what was happening.
“In this situation, I don’t even know what to say because I was like … I was already cursing in the car, like what, why are you bringing me here?” she said.
She laughed, took a deep breath, laughed again, and then quietly said “yes.” “Congratulations, guys,” the officer said.
“Wow, I’m even like shaking from everything,” she said, as her now-fiancé hugged the cop in thanks.
The set-up is cute, but many have found reasons to criticize the video. Some complained that cops should be fighting crime, and not wasting time and money on shenanigans like this — but how are officers supposed to make a positive impact on their society if not through down-to-earth human encounters like this?
Others have pointed out the girlfriend’s lackluster response: No kiss, no visible excitement, just her calling him crazy. The truth is, some people just aren’t about screaming and hopping up and down and making a big scene.
And let’s be fair — she’d just gotten pulled over. Who wouldn’t be a little on-edge (or even upset) after that?
Still, others made fun of the young man for “putting the ring on the wrong hand” — but there are plenty of countries where women wear wedding rings on the right hand, including Russia, Spain, Italy, and Poland.
It’s safe to say that you can’t judge a couple by a 57-second video. All the best to these two!
