Watch Heartwarming Moment Son with Down Syndrome Sees Dad After 5 Days Away from Home
There are few things more pure and beautiful than the bond between a loving parent and child. Children have a way of being exceptionally honest and straightforward, especially with their affection.
Most parents have experienced this at some point, whether it’s getting tackled with excitement when they get home from work or having their child crawl up in their lap and fall asleep.
Children use “I love you” liberally and they mean it. That can lead to incidents like the one below, where one little boy goes from cheerful goodbyes to heartbroken tears when he realizes he hasn’t told his dad he loves him.
That trust, love, and genuine spirit are some of life’s greatest gifts. As we get older, we tend to phase out of those over-the-top displays, but it’s still heartwarming to witness them.
Some people hold on to that childlike joy and love, and it’s incredibly refreshing to see.
Marcy Cobrink Mayer recently posted a video on Facebook that exemplifies this sort of familial love.
“Homecoming doesn’t get better than this. I think my brother missed my father after 5 days in NYC with my sister,” wrote Marcy Cobrink Mayer.
The video below shows Mayer’s brother, who has Down syndrome, coming down an escalator at the airport. They’d been traveling for a few days, and he hadn’t seen his dad that whole time.
As soon as the son steps off the escalator, he rushes past strangers and wraps his dad in a hug. They kiss each other on the cheek, and it’s clear they missed each other terribly.
With over 15 million views, 125 thousand reactions, and 173 thousand shares, it’s clear other people love this heartwarming display of father and son affection, too.
“There is no greater gift than that of unconditional love,” wrote one viewer. “I can feel like your lovely Dad as i have a 30 yo Angel too his name is Gerard. Seeing the joy brought me to tears.”
“That’s about the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen in my life!” wrote another, expressing a sentiment that was shared dozens of times.
“Absolutely beautiful. I can feel the love.”
“This is so heartwarming ❤ individuals with “Down syndrome” have nothing but Pure Love for everyone within them, they dont judge everyone or bully people. Society should seriously take notes from these amazingly loveable human beings!! ?❤”
We could all take a cue from this son and father, who openly show their love for each other without a care in the world for who’s watching.
