Joanna Gaines Shares Sweet Throwback Photo with Message to Chip on 15th Wedding Anniversary
Something always seems to be going on for the Gaines. Whether it’s a new business venture or a new critter on the farm, life on the Gaines farm is bustling and lively.
Magnolia Market has drawn quite the crowd, but the Gaines added a new eatery earlier this year. Magnolia Table, in Waco, Texas, has the same charm and warmth that the rest of the Magnolia empire boasts.
But there’s been a more important addition due to make his debut this year. Chip and Joanna are expecting their fifth child, a son, in July.
But all of that and their history came about because of May 31, 2003, when the house-renovating couple got hitched.
The couple originally met in 2001, when Chip caught a glimpse of her on commercials she was in for her dad’s tire shop. But it wasn’t an instant connection — or at least, that’s probably what Joanna was led to believe.
Why? Chip showed up an hour late to their date. First red flag.
Not only was he late, he didn’t call her back — for months. What’s a girl to think but that he wasn’t interested?
Turns out that the reason he didn’t call wasn’t because he wasn’t interested, but because he had a bet with a buddy to see who could go the longest without calling their dates back.
After that was over, though, they were inseparable. Chip didn’t lose time after that, and proposed a few months later.
He took Joanna to a shopping mall to propose. She said yes, and they walked inside to a jewelry store.
Chip had Joanna design her own ring — probably a wise move for someone as design-savvy as she is.
They got married at a Greek-inspired venue, and on May 31, 2018, they celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary.
Joanna posted a lovely photo from their wedding day on her Instagram account to celebrate.
“It’s been a good fifteen years @chipgaines ❤ ” she captioned the photo. “Here’s to fifty more…”
Chip wasted no time in responding with a sweet poem for his wife on Twitter.
“15 years.. where’d they go; 15 years.. I’d like to know; 15 more, to God I pray; 15 more just to make her day. Happy anniversary sweet girl!” he wrote.
