Groom in Tears After Best Friend He Hasn't Seen in Years Surprises Him on Wedding Day
Of all the days of celebration in your life, which one do you want the most people at? When do you want old friends and distant family members coming together to share in your joy?
Weddings, usually. They’re a time of coming-together to celebrate you and the love of your life. The only other time that many people from different circles of your life will come together will probably be at a funeral.
Weddings are full of surprises. The best kind are the positive ones, not the ones like finding out the caterer is an hour late and has enough food for half the guests.
Guests are surprised by the venue, the decorations, and the ceremony — everything has been crafted to set the scene for one of the most memorable days of your life. It’s a production, and countless hours have gone into getting each detail right.
Knowing there are some people left out of the festivities is a tough pill to swallow, but sometimes people just can’t make it: Their health refuses to cooperate, they have a last-minute emergency, or they’re just too far away.
This bride-to-be didn’t care how far away one particular potential guest was: She knew how much his presence would mean to her soon-to-be husband, so she made her plans.
MacKenzie from Indiana knew that her beau Kalvin had a very close friend that he hadn’t been able to see in a long time. Their wedding would be a special day whether or not his best friend from high school, Tyler Presley, was there, but obviously having him there would ramp things up.
MacKenzie arranged for Presley to come be part of the wedding. He wore the same outfit as the other groomsmen, but kept his presence quiet until the right moment.
The groom was stationed out in the grass in a picturesque field where the wedding would be taking place. This is usually the set-up for the emotional “first look” set of photos.
His friend sneaked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. After the people around him reassured him it was okay to turn around, the groom did — but he didn’t see his bride!
That didn’t stop him from getting emotional and wrapping Presley in a big bear hug. Based on his reaction, he’s quite surprised, and after a manly hugging and back-patting session, he backed up and wiped at his eyes.
“…that was good,” he said as he wiped the tears away. “That was a good one.”
It was so thoughtful of MacKenzie to come up with this idea for her husband, and one of the best gifts she could have given him!
