Firefighter in Middle of Drill Drops to Her Knees Moment She Sees Boyfriend
There are many factors that go into planning the perfect proposal, and one of the most important factors is the date.
Some people choose a holiday, when they know friends and family will be around. Others — with permission — propose during a best friend’s wedding reception. There are a lot of good, unique choices.
One of the dates most people would avoid choosing is April 1. People are already on guard on April Fools Day, and no one likes to be made a fool of — especially when it comes to love.
Despite that, April 1 was the date that Lt. Kelby Ueltschi decided to propose to his girlfriend Becca Pelletier this year. The couple is a match made in heaven, with both of them in the same field.
So what better way to propose than at a place they both frequent, doing their jobs? Ueltschi decided to use a training drill to his advantage and, with a little help from his friends, was able to surprise Pelletier as she ran through the drill.
As Pelletier rolled out from under the garage door, lying on her back, she did not realize what was going on to her right.
“Take your mask off,” says a voice. “All right. Come here. Hey! Come here.”
Pushing herself to her feet, she still doesn’t spot her boyfriend and his friends but focuses on removing her gear until she realizes what’s going on and stops in her tracks.
She sees the sign and drops her gloves to the floor. She falls to her knees, collapsing to the ground before removing her mask and saying yes.
Stepping over the banner that reads “4-1-19 Will You Marry Me?” she wraps her beau up in her arms and they kiss.
The Barneveld Fire Department documented the happy occasion, posting photos and videos and even tagging Ellen DeGeneres in this heartwarming proposal.
“Last night on 4/1/19 at our weekly training, we held a special drill to help one of our members out,” the department posted. “While participating in mask confidence training their was a special surprise for Firefighter/EMT Becca Pelletier.”
“Our fire department is like a big family and we were excited that we could assist with the proposal. Congratulations and Best wishes to Becca and Lieutenant Kelby Ueltschi.”
