Country Singer's 3-Year-Old Son Dies in 'Tragic Accident'
Losing a child is one of the worst experiences a parent can face. No matter how well-known or unknown you are to the rest of the world, losing a precious little one hurts the same.
Celebrities aren’t exempt from these painful human conditions, and their losses often impact many more than just themselves as their fans grieve the loss as well.

Granger Smith, a well-known country singer and songwriter, and his wife posted a tragic family update on June 6. On Instagram, they revealed to the world that they had lost their little boy, River, in a “tragic accident.”
“I have to deliver unthinkable news. We’ve lost our youngest son, River Kelly Smith,” Smith posted on June 6. “Following a tragic accident, and despite doctor’s best efforts, he was unable to be revived.”
Granger went on to reveal that he and his wife, Amber, made the difficult but lifesaving decision to donate their son’s organs to children waiting for transplants.
“Amber and I made the decision to say our last goodbyes and donate his organs so that other children will be given a second chance at life,” he wrote.
“Our family is devastated and heartbroken, but we take solace in knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.”

“Riv was special. Everyone that met him knew that immediately. The joy he brought to our lives cannot be expressed and his light will be forever in our hearts. If there are words to say more, I cannot find them in this moment.”
He urged people to take the time they have with the ones they love, and let them know how much they care while they still can.
Amber posted a tribute to her son as well, echoing the words in Granger’s post and sharing her loss with her own followers. “Nothing can prepare a mother to deliver this kind of news,” she posted.

Both parents requested that if anyone felt so moved, they could donate to Dell Children’s Medical Center on River’s behalf. “The doctors, nurses and staff have been incredible,” the parents wrote.
Please keep the family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
