Brave 3-Year-Old Girl Saves Father's Life Using FaceTime After He Has Stroke
The internet has made us a strange people. We have more information at our fingertips than ever before, and yet we also have more ways to waste time than ever before, too.
There are apps for everything. You can do more than just call a friend now: You can video chat with them.
There are services you wouldn’t have imagined just a few years ago. And as the times change, we change, too.
Plenty of people give kids (and their parents) grief when they’re glued to their electronic devices — and it’s easy for both kids and adults to become addicted to the constant barrage of information (and, well, games).
Even a 3-year-old can navigate some programs better than an adult, and to some people that’s a sign of the end times.
But for one 3-year-old named Molly, familiarity with her dad’s iPhone is probably what saved his life.
Molly, from Virginia, was at home with her dad, Trevor McCabe, when he collapsed. The young dad, only 27, later said that he felt like he was dying.
Despite the terrifying situation, Molly seemed to have a pretty clear idea of what to do. She swept up her dad’s phone and FaceTimed her mom.
When Devon finally answered the phone, she was greeted by video of her distraught little girl.
“She was sobbing crying and couldn’t articulate words very well,” Devon said. Molly used the phone to show her mother the condition of her father.
A neighbor was quickly called, and an emergency response team was notified. Devon, a nurse herself, left work and got home about the same time the first responders did.
It turns out that the young man had suffered a stroke as a result of a blood clot in his brain. He had to undergo surgery because of the resulting brain swelling.
Fortunately he’s been doing well and is on the mend. The clot could have done so much more damage than it did, but thankfully Trevor did not die that day.
“It’s been such a conflict of emotions,” the relieved mom said. “I’m so proud of her, she without a doubt saved his life.”
