Old Man Choking in Chick-fil-A Saved After Employee Performs Heimlich, Captured on Video

Chick-fil-A is known for many things. They invented a chicken sandwich that has become very popular, their waffle fries are the perfect side and their lemonade is made with fresh lemons everyday.

When someone eats at Chick-fil-A, they are usually impressed with the delicious food.

Chick-fil-A is also known for their outstanding service. Team members work hard every day to make sure that their guests feel welcomed and have a connection at their store.

They do second-mile services like clearing trays off the table, refreshing beverages and even walking guests to and from the restaurant with an umbrella if it suddenly rains.

Stories about this restaurant going above and beyond to help others are not uncommon.

They have donated sandwiches and opened doors to people stranded on the highway, they opened their kitchens on a Sunday to donate food to the people who donated blood for the Pulse shooting, and they chased cars to catch a guest who forgot their food.

This past weekend, a Chick-fil-A team member in Austin, Texas, was noticed after he saved a guest’s life.

On Saturday, an elderly man was enjoying his meal when he began to choke. He stood up and motioned toward his throat for someone to help him.

One woman noticed and immediately went over to try and help. She started performing the Heimlich maneuver as one employee went over to the counter to ask for help.

That’s when trainer Hunter Harris ran over to help. He switched places with the woman, and he was able to help get the food dislodged from the elderly man’s throat.

Harris patted the man on his back and went back to work as the man went back to enjoying his meal.

“It was a very intense situation and I was relieved once it happened,” Harris said. “I knew there was nothing to be said between me and him. I did what I needed to do and he was OK and I just came back and continued my work.”

This isn’t the first time Harris has saved a guest from choking. His father, the owner of the store, is very proud of his son’s quick response to the emergency.

Thanks to this Chick-fil-A team member and guests, this man’s life was saved.
