Caterer a No-Show on Bride & Groom's Wedding Day. Restaurant Shuts Down To Save the Day
Weddings are exciting events for everyone as they get to celebrate the beginning of a marriage between two people that they know and love.
There are many months of planning that go into this one day, and it can leave couples stressed out and overwhelmed.
The worst nightmare for any bride and groom is when a vendor (photographer, DJ, caterer, etc.) cancels or has the wrong date for the wedding.
Finding out these things, especially last minute, can ruin the big day and even bring the couple to tears.
Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. VanSledright had their worst nightmare come true.
The VanSledrights decided that they were going to become husband and wife on August 11, but unfortunately, their caterer wrote down the date as August 18.
“All the details were planned and we had just finished with the photographs but we were waiting for the caterer,” Benjamin’s mother recalled to Fox 61.
The couple found out right before the ceremony, which created a lot more pre-ceremony stress than desired. The family decided to see if the restaurant next to their venue, Sonder Eatery, would be able to help in any way.
When the couple came in with tears in their eyes, owner Nick Ruesticus couldn’t turn them away.
In 90 minutes, the staff at the restaurant had a cocktail hour prepared, as well as meals for 150 people. They even had options of chicken, beef, vegetarian and vegan dishes.
“It was organized chaos,” Ruesticus said. “It was kind of viewed for myself and the team as kind of a challenge.”
Thanks to this restaurant, the bride and groom were able to relax for the rest of their big day.
“I hope they know what they did really save our wedding,” Amber VanSledright said.
“We can’t thank them enough, it made our day that much more special, that much more memorable,” husband Benjamin said.
Luckily, the original catering company gave the couple a refund and has been unnamed by the couple.
The newlyweds are currently enjoying married life as they continue their honeymoon in Costa Rica! Congratulations!
