Kathy Griffin Furious as Fox Uses Her to Show America What Real New Year's Celebration Looks Like

It’s been a rough year for Kathy Griffin, but not everybody is sympathetic to her fall from grace — especially not Fox News.

During their New Year’s Eve broadcast of the famous Times Square ball drop, Fox took a few minutes to jab at the disgraced “comedian,” who used to host CNN’s coverage of the same event before she, um, pretended to behead the president.

That tends to ruin a career pretty quickly.

Fox’s own Kennedy, host of the show of that same name, joined Jesse Watters to entertain revelers, and donned a red-haired wig to parody Griffin… complete with her trademark voice and over-the-top mannerisms.

“Kathy, why are you here, anyway?” Watters asked “Kathy Griffin” in a tongue-in-cheek tone.

“I’m a fixture in Time Square,” Kennedy enthusiastically replied in her Griffin impression. “Nothings gonna keep me from this hassle!”

“I thought you were fired. Weren’t you fired?” asked Watters.

“I was just trying to get a-head,” Kennedy-as-Griffin replied awkwardly.

The real Griffin, of course, caused quite a ruckus back in May when she appeared during a photo shoot posing with the fake, bloody “head” of Donald Trump. That disturbing image drew criticism from the Trump family, who said the president’s young son Barron was traumatized by it.

Others on both sides of the political aisle denounced Griffin for the stunt, which was widely seen as neither funny or appropriate. On May 31, CNN officially fired Kathy Griffin from her New Year’s Eve hosting gig.

“We found what she did disgusting and offensive. We are pleased to see she has apologized and asked that the photos be taken down,” the network stated.

Anderson Cooper, the former co-host of the Times Square coverage and one of the most recognized names in news, issued a separate statement condemning Griffin.

“For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate,” Cooper posted on Twitter.

According to the Huffington Post, Kathy Griffin lashed out at the well-known reporter, calling him “the Spineless Heiress” as an apparent insult against his Vanderbilt family connections and life as a gay man. Isn’t the left so tolerant and accepting?

Kennedy, still in her red-haired wig and Kathy Griffin persona, teased the former D-list comedian for her obsession with Cooper.

“Why did the chicken cross the road?” she asked Watters. “Because Anderson Cooper kicked it off the New Year’s Eve show.”

Kennedy took a humorous poke at Hillary Clinton, as well.

“Hillary couldn’t be here tonight. She already dropped the ball once this year!” she declared, before a laughing Watters reminded her that the election was over a year ago.

The good-natured ribbing might not have been comedy gold, but it was still entertaining and creative, which puts it miles ahead of the real Kathy Griffin’s bitter and increasingly bizarre appearances.

Griffin has fallen so low that impersonating her is now more popular than she is. Maybe pretending to gruesomely dismember the president of the United States wasn’t the wisest career move after all.
