Joy-Anna Duggar Confirms Brutal Delivery, Opens Up About Terrifying Birth Experience
Becoming a first-time parent can be a wonderfully exciting experience, but there will always be a few bumps along the way.
This was certainly the case for Joy-Anna (Duggar) Forsyth and her husband Austin Forsyth when their son, Gideon, was born in February.
“Looking at our child for the first time was such an incredible moment!” the couple told People magazine at the time. “God is so good, and we are so thankful.”
But the “Counting On” couple opened up about what it was like finding out that Joy had to have an emergency Caesarean section.
“As we get closer to the birth I think there’s a lot of emotions, somewhat nervous. A little scared,” Joy told People during a sneak peek of the next season of “Counting On.”
The couple had originally planned to have a home birth, but Joy was in labor for 20 hours and the midwife told her the baby was breech. The mother-to-be was rushed to the hospital for the emergency C-section.
“Seeing my wife in pain, that was probably about the hardest,” Austin said. Joy’s greatest fear, as it turns out, was having a C-section.
Despite the fear, Gideon was born on February 23. But they still have had their fair share of parenting troubles.
On July 5, the couple blew a tire while driving with little Gideon in the back seat!
“I’ve been learning a lot about how I can plan our day but, ultimately, things WILL go wrong and we just gotta be flexible,” Joy posted on Instagram.
“So we were going down the road here, and just got done with the dozer drive, and we’re headed home, and 15 minutes passed where we started. Anyways, we blew a tire… pretty terribly,” Joy explained in the video she posted.
No matter what, these parents seem to be carrying on the Duggar family tradition of expanding and growing the family.
