Jon Voight Quietly Cleaned Seats for Gold Star Families at Trump's 'Salute to America'
Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight has been put on blast — or canceled, as the kids are fond of saying — by most of liberal Hollywood for his outspoken conservatism. And, quite frankly, he doesn’t care.
If you needed an object lesson here, take his actions during the July Fourth “Salute to America” in Washington D.C.
Yes, that’s the event decried by liberals as being a big MAGA rally combined with a North Korean military parade. To say that there weren’t a whole lot of Hollywood luminaries in attendance is kind of like saying there isn’t a whole lot of water in the Sahara.
Nevertheless, Voight was there — and cleaning seats for Gold Star families.

The actor, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor in “Coming Home” back in 1978 (and also fathered another Academy Award winner), was spotted wiping the rain off of the seats for families who lost a child in combat.
The clip, posted by Trump supporter Mike Hahn, has received almost 600,000 views since being posted on Tuesday.
“This is what it’s all about!” Hahn said.
It wasn’t actually all of what Voight was about on the Fourth of July, however. The actor had also appeared at a rally with Moms for America that included Gold Star families.
The object of the rally, Voight said in an interview with Fox News, was to warn Americans about the dangers of socialism.
“There’s no greater honor than to stand with these moms who have lost their loved ones who sacrificed for our country, for our freedoms, and who love and honor and respect our nation,” Voight said in the June interview.

“If they knew anything about the Second World War, they’d know that socialism is a disaster. It’s never produced anything anywhere in the world,” Voight said.
“It’s an economic sinkhole, but it also produces nothing but misery and finally violence, too.”
One day after the video of him wiping seats went viral, Voight managed to make news on Twitter again. This time, it was for a video in support of President Trump.
“My fellow Americans, I stand with you and the truth of our nation with great pride and honor. I say this truly from a place of God’s truths,” Voight said in the video posted Wednesday.
“Our nation is stronger and wiser because we have taken a chance on a man who has become the greatest president. I am honored to call him President Trump.”
“As we come closer to 2020, let us track all of magnificent documentations that have been signed, sealed and delivered to this country and its glory,” Voight said.
“We must continue this race of truths and stand with President Trump for his next win because this is more than a win.
“This is not a sacrifice. This is God’s honor, God’s trust for this nation, for this land of liberty, for justice for all.”

While his exhortation to vote for President Trump in 2020 might make the most news, I was still more heartened to see the video of Voight cleaning off seats.
This wasn’t something he looked to publicize, I would gather. It doesn’t look like he knew the video was being taken. Whether he would have approved is a question that’s above my pay grade, but it’s not something he’s retweeted or anything like that. (Then again, he’s only tweeted five times since 2017, so take that as you will.)
Whatever the case, it’s a great — and apolitical — gesture from an actor who’s clearly ceased to care what Hollywood thinks.
