Former 'General Hospital' Star Passes Away at Age 86
The long-running soap opera “General Hospital” lost a beloved former cast member on Friday. Susan Brown, known for her role as Dr. Gail Adamson Baldwin died at the age of 86, according to Page Six, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Brown was a California native born in San Francisco. She graduated from the University of Southern California and began her acting career soon after.
Brown’s soap opera career began in 1959 with a role on “From These Roots.” She went on to play parts on “The Young Marrieds,” “Bright Promise,” and “Return to Peyton Place.”
She joined “General Hospital” as Dr. Baldwin in 1977. She played Dr. Baldwin until 1985 when she left the show.
Even so, Brown continued to reprise her role as Dr. Baldwin over the years until she returned again in 1992. She was then a recurring character on the show.
