Fans Spot Rainbow in Sky During Moment of Silence for Aretha Franklin in Detroit

Share

During a moment of remembrance in Detroit on Tuesday, an extraordinary act of God honored the Queen of Soul.

It happened when Detroit Tigers fans were asked to be silent in memory of Aretha Franklin, the hometown girl whose voice helped change the world.

An enormous rainbow arced through the sky over Comerica Park, where the Tigers were getting ready to play the Chicago Cubs.

The miracle caught the eye of the country, befitting the fame of an enormous star like Franklin. Here’s how WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, presented it to viewers:

At the same time as the rainbow lit up the sky, Franklin’s image was placed on the park’s scoreboard along with the words “respect” and “forever our queen.”

Songs from the singer were played between each inning of the baseball game as a symbol of admiration to the late artist.

The Tigers posted a spectacular photo on Twitter showing the rainbow arcing directly over the stadium. The post read, “Some pictures say it all.”

Do you think the rainbow was a sign from Aretha Franklin?

The Tigers won the game that day against the Chicago Cubs. The score was 2-1.

This is not the first time that the Tigers honored Franklin. Last week they used her song titles in their games notes.

Franklin sang the national anthem at the park in 2011 for the American League Championship Series and was also a regular at the games.

After battling Pancreatic cancer, Franklin died at the age of 76 last week.

A private funeral ceremony for Franklin will be held on Aug. 31, the Detroit Free Press reported. Public visitations are scheduled for Aug. 28 and 29 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.
