Woman's Rape Accusations Crumble After Video Clears 4 Men of All Charges
This is one story that Democrats won’t want to hear at a time when they’re pushing a “believe women” campaign that urges Americans to unquestioningly believe sexual assault accusations — and presume the guilt of the accused.
Charges were dropped on Monday against four men who were accused of raping a woman in Las Vegas over the summer, thanks to a cellphone video that showed the sex was consensual, according to KVVU.
The four men, who are all California dentists — Ali Badkoobehi, 30, and brothers Saman Edalat, 39, Sina Edalat, 34, and Poria Edalat, 30 — were initially accused of raping the woman at the Wynn Las Vegas resort in July.
As reported by KTNV, the woman’s original story was horrific.
The accuser claimed she met Badkoobehi at a nightclub in the early morning hours of July 28, then went to his suite to continue drinking with him.
She claimed that Badkoobehi tried to pull off her clothes and she struggled. She said another man walked out of one of the suite’s bedrooms, naked, and Badkoobehi ordered her to perform oral sex on him. Eventually, two more men — both naked — entered the room and joined the attack, the woman said.
The woman told police she was too intoxicated to fight off the attack but told the men to stop.
As KVVU reported, the video told a different story.
And that was enough to have the charges dropped.
“After review of the facts of the case, it was clear that the allegations were completely fabricated,” lawyers representing the men wrote in a statement, according to KSNV in Las Vegas. “The evidence confirmed the men’s innocence, and the state has cleared them of all charges.”
Cases like this are why the revered concept “innocent until proven guilty” is such a beautiful thing.
However, some on the left don’t care if an innocent man suffers at the hands of false accusations.
A false sexual assault accusation is enough to destroy a man’s career, reputation, and family.
Despite such stakes, as Breitbart reported, the left keeps pushing its “believe women” campaign, which implies all sexual assault accusations should be believed, including the accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
It’s frankly evil to believe accusations without any sort of proof or due process.
It goes without saying that rapists should be punished, but following due process would ensure the guilty are punished and the innocent are not.
The four men who were falsely accused put it nicely in a statement published by KVVU.
“At this sensitive moment in our history, we believe that women should be respected and heard and believed,” the men stated. “But as this case shows, it is also important to keep a critical eye on those willing to use the movement for their own selfish motives and remember that innocent until proven guilty is one of our country’s bedrock principles.”
Those are words every American should remember.
