Watch Jimmy Fallon Laugh Hysterically as Smollett Gets Destroyed by Tracy Morgan

Share

Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan did not mince his words when talking about Jussie Smollett’s apparent hate crime hoax on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Fallon had asked Morgan about his new role on Fox’s “Empire.”

“Yeah, they gave me a role on ‘Empire,'” Morgan said. “Contractually, they gave me millions of dollars. Contractually, all I gotta do is not fake a hate crime.”

The actor paused for a moment and then quipped, “Jussie!”

Smollett, who is also in the cast of “Empire,” was charged with 16 felony counts for filing a false police report before prosecutors dropped the charges, but Morgan wasn’t going to let the actor off as easy.

Fallon seemed to swallow laughter before saying, “That’s all you have to do? Yeah, perfect.”

Morgan and Fallon then laughed and Fallon asked, “You don’t buy that story?”

“C’mon. First of all, racist people don’t be jumping nobody in the polar vortex,” Morgan said. “It’s too cold, they’d say ‘we’ll be racist in the spring.'”

Morgan added that Smollett would have been an unlikely target because “racists don’t be watching ‘Empire.’”

Do you think the charges against Smollett should have been dropped?

But the most ridiculous detail of Smollett’s apparent hate crime hoax, according to Morgan, was his Subway sandwich, which he held throughout the duration of the alleged attack.

Smollett claimed he fought back against two men, who supposedly put a rope around his neck, but he never let go of his sandwich during the encounter, according to footage obtained by police.

“It was, like, 10 seconds of footage, and then he disappears for like two seconds, then he reappears with the noose on his neck still holding the Subway sandwich!” Morgan joked.

Morgan isn’t the only black comedian to come out against Smollett’s apparent hate crime hoax — Chris Rock also had a bit about Smollett at Saturday night’s NAACP Image Awards in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

“From now on, you’re ‘Jessie’ from now on. You don’t even get the ‘U’ no more. That ‘U’ was respect. You don’t get no respect from me,” Rock said.

Smollett might have gotten away with a slap on the wrist from prosecutors, but he’s certainly getting the criticism he deserves from prominent black comedians.
