Watch as This Jewish Diplomat Decides He's Had Enough of Ilhan Omar's Hate in Middle of Hearing
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar had the nerve to viciously attack special envoy for Venezuela Elliott Abrams, who is Jewish, just days after her absurdly anti-Semitic tweets.
The two clashed on Wednesday during a hearing about the crisis in Venezuela held by the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
But Omar, who is still sitting on the committee despite her antisemitism, asked Abrams loaded questions about his history in Latin America.
The Minnesota representative prefaced her comments by implying everything Abrams said should be taken with a grain of salt because of his involvement with the Iran-Contra affair.
“I fail to understand why members of this committee or the American people should find any testimony that you give today to be truthful,” Omar said.
Abrams attempted to explain himself, but the antisemitic congresswoman wouldn’t let him speak.
“It is not right that members of this committee can attack a witness who is not permitted to reply,” Abrams said.
Omar then brought up the El Mozote Massacre, where more than 800 civilians were killed by the Salvadoran army in 1981. At the time, Abrams disputed the details of the massacre.
The congresswoman implied that Abrams was supportive of the massacre and other such “genocide.”
“Yes or no. Do you think that massacre was a fabulous achievement that happened under our watch?” she asked.
“Would you support an armed faction within Venezuela that engages in war crimes, crimes against humanity or genocide, if you believe they were serving U.S. interests, as you did in Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua?” Omar later asked.
Abrams eventually had enough of the freshman congresswoman’s loaded questions.
“I am not going to respond to that question. I’m sorry,” Abrams said.
“I don’t think this entire line of questioning is meant to be real questions, and so I will not reply,” he added.
That’s what happens when a known anti-Semite is on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. It’s not a coincidence that Omar would attempt to defame a well-known Jewish foreign policy expert.
Earlier this week, Omar had to apologize for anti-Semitic tweets about “hook-nosed” Jews and Israel lobbies.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump called for Omar to resign from Congress or at least give up her position on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“And I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” Trump said.
After seeing the way Omar treated Abrams combined with her anti-Semitic tweets, I’m inclined to agree with Trump — Omar should resign.
