Vet Calls Cops Immediately After Customer Sneaks Note About Psychotic Boyfriend
A Florida woman who was being threatened and held against her will by an abusive boyfriend devised a plan to escape her captivity, one which required the assistance of her local veterinarian.
According to Fox News, Carolyn Reichle, 28, of DeLand, Florida was allegedly being physically and mentally abused by her boyfriend, 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd, a convicted felon who was illegally in possession of a handgun.
Floyd is alleged to have threatened Reichle at gunpoint on Wednesday and refused to allow her to leave the home, even discharging at least one shot inside the home during a struggle over the gun.
He is also alleged to have physically beat her repeatedly that day, at one point causing a significant head wound which required her to remain in bed all day on Thursday.
However, Reichle convinced Floyd to allow her take her dog to the DeLand Animal Hospital on Friday. He accompanied her on the trip to the vet’s office and reportedly threatened her life with the gun once more while en route.
While at the vet clinic, Reichle managed to slip a hastily written note to one of the staff members that read, “Call the cops. My boyfriend is threatening me. He has a gun. Please don’t let him know.”

The staff at the vet’s office took the note seriously and quietly placed a call to local law enforcement, who arrived at the clinic shortly thereafter and took Floyd into custody.
According to a Facebook post from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office detailing the incident, the DeLand police were the first to arrive on the scene, where they placed Floyd under arrest and recovered the illegally possessed firearm from him.
Sheriff’s deputies were also dispatched since the couple’s home in which the domestic violence occurred was within Volusia County’s jurisdiction.
Reichle was ultimately transported to Florida Hospital DeLand, where she was treated for a head wound, a black eye and bruising on her arms.
She was later escorted by deputies to the home, likely to gather her possessions, where the officers discovered two bullet holes in a wall of the hallway.
Floyd was taken to the Volusia County jail, where he was reportedly being held without bail. He now faces multiple charges stemming from the domestic violence case, including aggravated assault with a firearm, false imprisonment, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, and simple battery.
Hopefully Floyd will get the book thrown at him once he stands in front of a judge.
As for Reichle, hopefully she will take her dog and possessions somewhere safe, never to see or hear from Floyd again whenever he inevitably is released from prison, however far in the future that may be.
This abused woman formulated a plan to make her escape from the man who allegedly wielded unlawful control over her, and the staff at the veterinary hospital ought to be commended for the role it played in helping bring her plan to a successful end.
