Trump Deals Crushing Blow to Abortion Industry with 'Fetal Tissue' Decision
Pro-life supporters have a reason to cheer today. President Donald Trump has done it again.
He promised to be an active and enthusiastic champion for the pro-life movement, and he has done just that time after time.
A recent announcement shows that Trump has no intention of stopping.
On Wednesday, the Trump administration announced via the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that it would stop supporting research that used human fetal tissue from elective abortions.
And make no mistake: It was 100 percent Trump’s doing.
“This was the president’s decision, Judd Deere, a White House spokesman, said. He noted it was a significant move “to protect the dignity of human life.”
The top recipient of funding from the National Institutes of Health was University of California-San Francisco.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, UCSF’s taxpayer-funded research “included a $13 million contract to supply 90 mice injected with aborted baby cells each month.”
The university did not like Trump taking their baby-parts money.
“The efforts by the administration to impede this work will undermine scientific discovery and the ability to find effective treatments for serious and life-threatening disease,” UCSF said.
No word from the university on Trump’s effectiveness to minimize lives lost from the elective abortions themselves. And UCSF gave no comment regarding the president possibly saving lives by shrinking the market for aborted baby parts.
There are still current federal contracts remaining where aborted baby parts are being used, but this is a substantial step in the right direction. Pro-life groups took notice of the announcement and cheered.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony list, called it “a major pro-life victory and we thank President Trump for taking decisive action.” She correctly noted, “It is outrageous and disgusting that we have been complicit, through our taxpayer dollars, in the experimentation using baby body parts.”
March For Life president Jeanne Mancini was equally supportive of Trump’s action. “March for Life applauds the administration for halting funding for research that requires aborted fetal organs and tissue” she said.
“Most Americans do not want their tax dollars creating a marketplace for aborted baby body parts which are then implanted into mice and used for experimentation. This type of research involves the gross violation of basic human rights, and certainly the government has no business funding it.”
The abortion industry is huge business in America and won’t go away in one fell swoop. But we should thank President Trump for chipping away at the evil industry in an effort to save more innocent lives.
