Trump Crushes Planned Parenthood's Dreams With Brutal Budget Move

Share

Whenever you see the words “family planning” associated with government grants, you can safely assume it’s merely a euphemism for abortion — at least, when Democrats control the purse strings.

For quite some time now, this has involved an uninterrupted flow of money to pro-abortion organizations. The most notorious of these is Planned Parenthood, but they’re far from the only death-centric organization receiving cash from Uncle Sam.

That could be coming to a gradual end, if the Trump administration has anything to do with it. A new proposal which would send $260 million in grants for family planning to health organizations specifically stipulates that “none of the funds appropriated under this title shall be used in programs where abortion is a method of family planning.”

“The funding opportunity will assist in the establishment and/or operation of voluntary family planning projects that will offer a broad range of family planning methods and services, including information, education and counseling related to family planning, preconception care, contraception, natural family planning and infertility services,” the Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.

The program also stipulates that “grantees develop monitoring and reporting policies, consistent with state law, in order to expand assurances that those who enter a Title X (family planning) service site and who may be victims of child abuse, child molestation, sexual abuse, rape, incest, intimate partner violence or human trafficking, are afforded the help and legal protection to which they are entitled.”

“We encourage all qualified organizations to apply, especially those proposing innovative strategies that would increase the number of clients served and the quality of services provided,” Assistant Secretary for Health Brett P. Giroir, M.D., said in the statement.

“We are committed to ensuring that we provide access to quality family planning services to the women and men who depend on this vital public health program.”

The language of the grant details are pretty clear on the abortion prohibition; no less than four times is it mentioned that organizations that provide termination will not be eligible for the grants. (Now, granted, it’s a 66-page document, but still — that’s not an unimpressive number of reiterations.)

The church of Planned Parenthood has become a sacrosanct altar at which the American left worships, all the while chanting the incantation “abortions comprise only a small part of their business.”

Do you agree with the Trump administration's latest move on abortion?

Apparently, it is some sort of metaphysical organization, too, as the waters of federal dollars can enter the general pond of its finances and come out completely untainted by the pollutant of abortion that lurks within the greater reservoir. That’s a pretty impressive feat, something one might almost attribute to a literal anti-Christ were they actually able to pull it off.

Another one of the mantras that makes an appearance during the Planned Parenthood religious services is: “If you take away funding from us, women won’t have anywhere to go for vital services.”

If that’s indeed true — and that doesn’t necessarily appear to be the case — then it’s time to fund alternatives. This isn’t enacting a change so that conservative ideology is legislated into women’s health.

Rather, it’s so that women who don’t believe in the mission of abortion-centric organizations have a place to go, and that American taxpayers aren’t stuck footing the bill for an organization that they’re morally and religiously opposed to.

This is bound to cause plenty of controversy, if just because the last place liberals want family planning dollars going is to organizations that don’t perform abortions. Expect this one to be fought tooth and nail from the left side of the aisle.

For conservatives, however, this is a baby step toward government-funded family planning that doesn’t involve abortion-centric groups.

Whether or not the government should be involved in family planning is another issue altogether — but if they are to remain in that business, this is a step that needed to be taken.
