Tons of Memes Mock Acosta Accidentally Proving Walls Work. Here Are Our Favorites.

Share

You know, I’d almost feel bad for Jim Acosta if he weren’t such a smug and self-assured human being.

Almost. But at the end of the day, you reap what you sow.

And if you make a name for yourself just being a generally obnoxious leftist mouthpiece trying to agitate the president, you’re going to hear about it when you’re wrong.

When Acosta made the unbelievably absurd gaffe of inadvertently proving that Trump’s proposed border walls actually do work, you just knew an avalanche of criticism was about to fall down on his head.

It’s hard to imagine it happening to a nicer guy.

First, Donald Trump Jr. expertly trolled Acosta. Then the president himself needed just four words to burn Acosta.

Had it just ended there, it would’ve been hilarious enough.

Do you think Acosta's gaffe deserves to be laughed at?

But then the memes happened. Oh, dear. Those memes. The internet is often a bastion for the most savage of humor, and Acosta’s blunder became a ripe target.

Here’s just a sampling of some of the best memes I found — and they are spectacular.

This is one where Acosta reports on how traffic lights are unnecessary because there are no accidents on the road.

This one is a throwback to beloved 1971 movie “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” that shows Acosta still not quite grasping the intricacies of a barrier.

Here’s one showing Acosta struggling with the concept of an umbrella stopping rainfall.

Here’s a hilarious four-for-one special.

“Jim Acosta Here At An Aquarium Where, For Some Reason, This Glass Wall Was Built To Keep Water From This Area, But We’re All Completely Dry! There’s No Water Anywhere!” may be favorite of that bunch.

“Dear Diary, today I visited a Fire Department but I saw no fires…” another funny one reads. “What’s the point of firefighters really?”

Another good one shows Acosta wondering where all the crime was while standing outside of a prison wall.

Point being, you can’t be an agitator and not expect to be agitated back.

We reached out to CNN DC bureau Senior Director Lauren Pratapas by email to see if CNN or Acosta would like to comment on the torrid backlash his video received. We have not received a response at the time of publication.
