Stormy Daniels Ruins Kimmel's Night With Official Statement on Trump Affair Hours Before Show

Share

For many Democrats, having to endure the prospect of sitting through a speech in which President Trump would list his accomplishments, the treat at the end was going to be Jimmy Kimmel’s interview with porn star Stormy Daniels, whom the media has alleged had an affair with the president.

Never mind that she’d issued tons of denials. To the media, the fact that there were stories about a non-disclosure agreement between Trump and Daniels (real name Stephanie Clifford) was de facto evidence of an affair, no matter how strenuously she denied it.

So, for those of you hoping to see Daniels break an NDA on air as a sort of dessert to get you through the Brussels sprouts-eating of the State of the Union on Tuesday, well, Ms. Daniels/Clifford had some bad news for you in advance.

According to The Daily Wire, hours before the State of the Union — and her appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” — Daniels once again issued a statement vehemently denying the affair.

“Over the past few weeks, I have been asked countless times to comment on reports of an alleged sexual relationship I had with Donald Trump many, many, many years ago,” Daniels’ statement read.

“The fact of the matter is that each party to this alleged affair denied its existence in 2006, 2011, 2016, 2017 and now again in 2018,” it continued.

“I am not denying the affair because I was paid ‘hush money’ as has been reported in overseas owned tabloids. I am denying this affair because it never happened.”

Talk about ruining Jimmy Kimmel’s night. But not the media’s!

Did you watch Stormy Daniels on Jimmy Kimmel?

In spite of an appearance geared more toward lurid entertainment than any actual fact-finding about the alleged affair or NDA — in response to a question from Kimmel as to whether she had “ever made love to someone whose name rhymes with Lonald Lump,” she responded, “I’ll call you whatever you want me to call you, baby” — news outlets seemed to imply that she had confirmed the affair without really confirming it.

“Stormy Daniels Deflects Jimmy Kimmel’s Questions on Rumored Trump Affair,” read The New York Times‘ piece on the appearance, which conspicuously didn’t mention the denial she had issued earlier in the day.

“Stormy Daniels on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Was a Triumph of Obfuscation,” The Atlantic’s original headline on its piece read (as a Google search willl show), before it was apparently changed to “The Upside-Down Logic of Stormy Daniels.”

It mentioned the denial, albeit after it mentioned a 2011 interview which she confirmed the affair (which she has since disowned) and the original Wall Street Journal report that Daniels had been paid $130,000 a month for a non-disclosure agreement.

The point is that anyone hoping that the real action would happen after the president’s State of the Union was going to be sorely disappointed.

First, Trump nailed the speech, despite the grimaces and gnashing of teeth on the Democrat side of the aisle. Then, Rep. Joe Kennedy III couldn’t even get through his Democrat response speech without drooling and looked like a high school debater dressing up for the very first time.

One questions the logic of selecting a Kennedy to give the rebuttal when the party is trying to figure out how to appeal to everyday Americans who abandoned them in 2016 (was Rep. R. Noblesse Yale-Trustfund VI unavailable?), and one questions it doubly when the decision is made to have a Kennedy give a speech with a wrecked car as the background.

All of the rest of the responses were predictably unhinged. (You know it’s bad when even Maxine Waters‘ rebuttal on BET didn’t stick out, check out RedState’s take on it here.)

And to top it all off, the whole Stormy Daniels thing was a complete stunt at best.

Happy Tuesday, liberals!
