Staggering 91% of Dems Think Violence Is on the Horizon Due to Politicians' Mean Words

Share

It’s no secret that political rhetoric, especially the kind that’s been spewed by radical leftists in the Democratic Party since President Donald Trump took office, has been a likely contributor to acts of violence carried out by thugs like those in the far-left group Antifa.

Political discourse is one thing, but let’s be honest, it’s completely out of control. It’s not out of the realm of possibility that further acts of violence could be committed by people who get hyped up by politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and “the squad” when they continually bash Trump and his immigration policies — like comparing migrant holding centers to “concentration camps.”

The rhetoric is irresponsible and unnecessary. And a majority of Americans — including those who call themselves Democrats — overwhelmingly agree, according to a new survey conducted by Pew Research Center.

Americans overall believe that politicians should avoid “heated” political language, as they feel it could “make violence more likely.” A whopping 91 percent of people who are Democrats or lean Democrat felt that way as opposed to 61 percent of those who are Republican or lean Republican.

When asked a similar question about heated language from politicians and whether Americans think it “could encourage violence,” Democratic voters once again scored high with 83 percent, compared to only 61 percent of Republicans who think that way.

These Democrat numbers are frankly a bit surprising, given the fact that their own party is responsible for some of the most heated language in American political history.

These are a lot of the same people who constantly apply blanket labels to conservatives by calling them racists, bigots and everything else in the book.

Sure, Trump changed the game when he was elected and is famous for going off script on more than one occasion. Most recently, the liberal mainstream media and various Democratic lawmakers condemned the “send her back” chants that broke out during Trump’s North Carolina rally on Wednesday.

But that’s a far cry from people like Ocasio-Cortez, who have used the border crisis to dramatically hype an issue that could ironically be solved by her and her party if they weren’t busy scoring political points.

Do you think Democrats' charged rhetoric will result in more violence?

And that’s not just my opinion. In a recent Fox News interview, Customs and Border Protection acting Commissioner Mark Morgan blamed recent acts of violence by Antifa on the seemingly never-ending trash that Democratic lawmakers talk these days.

“They are attacking the men and women of ICE. They are attacking the men and women of CBP. It’s unjust, it’s unfair, it’s misinformed — and outright, sometimes they are just lying to the American people, and it’s undoubtedly fueling this,” Morgan said.

Trump will always be Trump, but he’s certainly never called for violence. Trump supporters aren’t attacking liberal journalists or throwing firebombs at government law enforcement facilities.

On the other hand, leftists groups like Antifa have done both of those things and more. They’ll attack people for wearing MAGA apparel or if they simply don’t share the same viewpoint as them. That liberal “tolerance” sure is tricky.

Prominent figures on the left like Shaun King, who is known as a leader of the Black Lives Matter group, reportedly lionized the Antifa terrorists who attacked the ICE facility in Washington and even called for more action, according to The Daily Wire.

That’s just plain disgusting and Democrats should be rushing to condemn such calls for more violence. But they’re not. And that’s a huge problem that will inevitably lead to more of it.

It would be refreshing if politicians put down their verbal guns for a while and actually did the job we elect them to do instead of tirelessly playing the race card and fear-mongering to drum up emotional support, but unfortunately, that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.

We’re moving right along into a rambunctious election season that, given what we’ve seen so far, will make the 2016 election season look like a day in Sunday school.
