South African Radical Admits Trump Is Right: They're Coming for White People's Land
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean people aren’t out to get you.
The unofficial slogan of conspiracy theorists worldwide became strangely appropriate in the wake of President Donald Trump wanting to get to the bottom of the rash of violence and murders in South Africa.
I have asked Secretary of State @SecPompeo to closely study the South Africa land and farm seizures and expropriations and the large scale killing of farmers. “South African Government is now seizing land from white farmers.” @TuckerCarlson @FoxNews

Trump tweeted that he had asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to look into the violent land and farm seizures in South Africa.
The president seemed to be referring to a segment on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” when the eponymous host took issue with the handling of the chaos in South Africa.
In particular, Carlson took issue with the State Department’s official statement to Fox News regarding South Africa.
“We are aware of these reports, and have been following this issue very closely for some time,” the State Department’s statement said. “South Africa is a strong democracy with resilient institutions, including a free press and an independent judiciary. South Africans are grappling with the difficult issue of land reform through an open process, including public hearings, broad-based consultations, and active civil society engagement. President [Cyril] Ramaphosa has pledged that the land reform process will follow the rule of law, and its implementation will not adversely affect economic growth, agricultural production, or food security.”
More criticisms came from the South African government as well.

“South Africa totally rejects this narrow perception which only seeks to divide our past nation and reminds us of our colonial past,” the South African government said on Twitter in response to Trump’s comments about farmlands being seized.
“Through land expropriation, we are forcing white people to share the land which was gained through a crime against the humanity of black and African people,” radical South African politician Julius Malema said in a press conference. Malema is the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters opposition party in South Africa.
Malema tore into Trump, calling him a pathological liar, for the president’s comments on the situation in South Africa. Malema all but dared America to do something about the issues of land ownership in South Africa.
“We must put it on record, unequivocally, that Donald ‘the pathological liar’ Trump, we are not scared of you and your USA or Western imperialist forces,” Malema said. “We are not the generation that is going to kneel at the statue of Western imperialism and accept to live in the indignity of black landlessnes.”
Malema also made a poignant demand to Trump.
“Stay out of South Africa’s domestic affairs,” he said. “Donald Trump is not saying anything we have not heard from white people.”
The issue of land ownership in South Africa is an extremely sticky one rooted in issues of apartheid. And the EFF is a relatively small, but vocal, minority.
But where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And to completely dismiss Carlson and Trump for “race-baiting” or trying to stoke racial tensions would be wrong.
It’s hard to say just how much the land dispute is racially driven, but if Malema’s comments are anything to go by, it’s pretty clear that they’re playing some role.
