Son of Prominent Obama Admin Figure Now an Outspoken Trump Supporter and Republican
His mother might be embarrassed by his politics, but the sane part of America couldn’t be prouder.
John David Rice-Cameron, the 20-year-old son of former Obama White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice, is making his own headlines these days as a prominent college spokesman for conservative causes — and getting favorable mentions from one of the biggest names in conservative commentary today.
And believe it or not, he credits his upbringing for his convictions.
Rice-Cameron has been interviewed by Fox News and gotten lengthy profiles in in campus publications like Stanford Politics magazine and The College Fix.
Mark Levin, the conservative talk radio icon, passed along The College Fix article in a Twitter post that declared Rice-Cameron is “a young man committed to liberty.”
I salute John David Rice-Cameron; a young man committed to liberty! https://t.co/X5pEl6Z8bQ

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Rice-Cameron said Levin’s themes of individual liberty helped form his politics.
“This worldview and these principles compel me to promote conservative ideas at Stanford, and beyond,” he told Fox.
“I’m driven by a fundamental sense of urgency over the fact that Americans are slowly losing their liberty, and I believe that liberty is being valued less and less. I want to turn the tide, and college campuses are crucial to doing so.”
Those are words any conservative can relate to. And the fact that they’re coming from a guy whose early years were steeped in liberal politics can’t help but give conservatives hope for the younger generation.
First of all, his mother a committed liberal and a former top operative in the Obama administration – is probably best remembered for her five Sunday morning talk show appearances in 2012 to spread the lie that the Benghazi terrorist attack was sparked by an internet video.
(Her role in “unmasking” Trump officials whose names were mentioned in intelligence agency reports during the presidential transition period might be a close second.)
His father, according to Stanford Politics, is Ian Cameron, a former executive producer at ABC News, home of notoriously liberal outfits like “The View.” He’s also a Democrat.
While his parents might be liberals, Rice-Cameron has told interviewers that their passion about politics led him to the conservative side.
“Sometimes my dad would listen to Rush Limbaugh and he would kind of argue with him,” Rice-Cameron told The College Fix. “I just found myself agreeing with basically everything Rush Limbaugh was saying.”
That’s not a bad way to start at all.
Now, Cameron-Rice is building his own work as a conservative on the same campus where both his parents attended college. The president of the Stanford College Republicans, he recently helped organized an event called “Make Stanford Great Again” with an uncompromising Facbook message:
“Trump is great. Build the wall. Deport criminal illegals. Guns save lives. There are only two genders. Abortion is murder. Defund sanctuary city San Francisco. Taxation is theft. Affirmative action is racist. White privilege is a lie.”
Doesn’t get much more in your face than that.
“It’s combative conservatism,” Rice-Cameron told The College Fix.
“You don’t provoke for the sake of provoking because that is not principled. But you don’t let the fact that someone might get triggered prevent you from saying or doing something important. We must break this leftist monopoly.”
Words like those aren’t music to his leftist mother’s ears, but they sound great to the rest of us.
