Secret Service Steps In After Sarah Sanders' Chilling Red Hen Experience
As the left becomes more and more unhinged, some on the right are taking precautionary measures — measures that will hopefully never be necessary.
Last week, press secretary Sarah Sanders and her family had a disturbing experience when the restaurant owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, insisted that Sanders leave the restaurant because she works for President Donald Trump.
According to Sanders’ father, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, the owner then took it a step further.
“Once Sarah and her family left — and of course Sarah was asked to please vacate, Sarah and her husband just went home. They had sort of had enough. But the rest of her family went across the street to a different restaurant,” Huckabee said on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”
“The owner of the Red Hen — nobody’s told this — then followed them across the street, called people and organized a protest yelling and screaming at them from outside the other restaurant and creating this scene.”
Following the incident at the Red Hen, California Rep. Maxine Waters encouraged her supporters to continue to harass and intimidate Trump officials whenever possible.
“If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd,” Waters said. “You push back on them and you tell them they are not welcome anywhere, anymore.”
Understandably, high profile persons within the Trump administration have taken remarks like this seriously.
According to a report from NBC, Sanders will now receive Secret Service protection at her home on a temporary basis.
The report was also confirmed by CNN.
And she may not be the only one.
“Sources said it is possible other White House staff members will receive similar protection,” CBS News reported. “President Trump can personally sign off on additional protections for members of the White House staff.”
On Sunday, Rep. Steve Scalise — a victim of political violence himself — tweeted, “Civility and respect always prevails over harassment and disrespect.”
We pray he’s right.
