Schumer: 'Would Love if [Film I Produced] Starred' Minority, But I Took Role Anyway
Even by Hollywood’s standards, the hypocrisy is stunning.
Radical liberal actress and not-that-funny comedian Amy Schumer has already proven herself to be an anti-Republican, anti-Donald Trump blabbermouth on America’s public stage.
But in an interview Friday on ABC’s “The View,” she proved she was a hypocrite of the highest order.
Schumer was on the show promoting her new movie, “I Feel Pretty,” in which the main character — Renee Bennett — is a woman obsessed with looking like a fashion model.
The character suffers a brain injury that makes her believe the woman she sees in the mirror is just as beautiful as Bennett hopes to be, though her outward appearance hasn’t changed a bit.
It’s supposed to be deep, of course, and penetrating, and empowering for women and all that #MeToo moment propaganda, but some viewers weren’t buying it.
“People were saying your character is a blonde of healthy weight who’s attractive and you’re supposed to make us believe that you’re ugly?” asked co-host Sunny Hostin. “How do you respond to that?”
To her credit, Schumer, who is the movie’s co-producer, understood that the word “blonde” there was what the liberals would call a “dog whistle” code word for “white.”
Schumer said it would have been awesome if a black or Hispanic or Asian woman could have played her role instead but … it was her role.
“I think it is fair to say that it’s a lot harder for other people,” she said. “And I recognize that I am a Caucasian. Like, I would love if this movie were starring a woman of color who’s had it way harder than me, and I think, I hope we get there. This is hopefully just a step in the right direction.”
Here’s the thing: The movie is about a white woman, and we can all agree Schumer is white. It’s about a woman of middling looks, which is an accurate, if charitable, way to describe Schumer.
In other words, Schumer fits the part, she got it. That’s the way the world works. The fact she’s one of the top producers of the movie probably helped, as well.
The distant cousin of Senate Minority Leader and national disgrace Chuck Schumer doesn’t need to apologize for making millions of dollars for doing her job.
But what she really put on full view Friday was just how hypocritical Hollywood liberals are. She would absolutely love a movie about a minority in her character’s place, just not her character’s place.

It always comes down to who’s ox is being gored.
Liberals like Schumer love to preach the benefits of affirmative action — which boils down to hiring a less-qualified applicant simply because of skin color.
But when it’s Schumer’s qualifications that are in question, affirmative action can wait for another day — though she devoutly hopes we “get there” at some point.
It’s Hollywood hypocrisy, and even after all this time, it’s still stunning.
