Rush Limbaugh: What The NYT Is Doing to America Can Be Called 'Satanic'
If you haven’t heard of The New York Times’ charming “1619 Project,” hold on, because it’s bad even for them.
It’s so bad, in fact, that nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh said this week what The Times is doing to America through that narrative and others is downright “satanic.”
Project 1619, for those who don’t know, is an initiative The Times is undertaking to recast America not as a land of freedom and hope, but instead as a land built on pillage, profit and rape, with African-Americans as the main victims.
The name refers to the year 1619, when the first African slaves arrived on American shores.
“This project at the New York Times is obscene,” Limbaugh said, according to a transcript posted on his website.
The Times’ intent here is to strip credit for America’s success from the cornerstone American ideas of individualism, responsibility, self-control, limited government and free enterprise capitalism.
Credit (or in The Times’ mind, blame) for America’s vast wealth and power is then transferred to the idea that privileged whites actually built the country on the backs of slave laborers, and every good thing that has happened in and to America since that time has been built on those same backs.
The idea is one of poisoned fruit. If the tree that grew the fruit is poison, then the fruit itself is also tainted.
Limbaugh contended that The Times is rolling out the project to “rewrite the founding of this country as something that did not happen when it was stated to happen, that it actually began with the slave trade and that everything that’s happened since 1619 is therefore unjust, indecent and disqualifying, then every other news organization is gonna have to pick this up. Otherwise The New York Times is gonna be stranded and alone with it.”
The Times’ (and Democrats’) gambit to win over the American people by convincing them that the country is a giant lie may be a move inspired by desperation and complete panic, according to Limbaugh.
Or, on a far darker note, he says some will call it “satanic.”
“I have seen desperation,” Limbaugh said. “I have seen panic throughout my life professionally, personally, I’ve seen it. I know what it looks like. I’ve never seen this degree of panic. And some will say this is not panic. This is satanic. However you want to characterize this, this is an act of pure desperation.”
And Limbaugh is right. The Times is engaging in perhaps the largest ever private attempt to re-write history.
The only ones who could give The Times a run for their money here are the Soviets. They rewrote history day in and day out, but that was an entire governmental effort.
What’s happening here is a private company attempting to fundamentally change the history of the most powerful nation in human history. And they’re doing it to protect and acquire power.
You don’t have to look very far into the Old Testament to see similarities between that plan and Satan’s — a great power who rewrites the truth to acquire an earthly kingdom he can rule.
For just a moment, though, let’s put the discussion of desperation and satanism aside. Let’s look at Project 1619 without a partisan lens.
As soon as we do that, the question that comes to mind is this: Why in the world would anyone condemn as fundamentally evil and oppressive a nation founded on the promise of freedom that’s even willing to go to war against itself over freedom?
America hasn’t always been perfect, but it’s more perfect than any other human-led society ever created — and that by a long shot.
Attempts to undermine the country aren’t new. But they are becoming much widespread and much more sophisticated. Now the organization that considers itself the literal keeper of history — “the paper of record” — has abandoned subtle attempts to change the past and is engaged in an all-out, overt mission to rewrite American history.
The only reason for The Times to do this is because they know their grip on America and that of their allies is slipping.
They’re bringing their war out into the open. You do that either when you’re ready to overwhelm or when you’re afraid you’re about to be crushed.
They have no hope of overwhelming the country. That means they’re scared.
So even if you’re tired, even if you’re depressed, even if you’re asking if the fight is worth it — stand your ground. We can win this culture war, take the political high ground and then return freedom, individualism, common sense and American pride to their rightful places. We can win. We will win.
