Report: ISIS Didn't Take Long To Gloat After Notre Dame Cathedral Went Up in Flames

The self-styled “caliphate” of the Islamic State group terror army that once stretched across parts of Syria and Iraq may be gone, but the jihadist organization continues to issue threats against Western civilization while reveling in any misfortune experienced in the West.

Such was the case on Monday when flames engulfed the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. Propaganda was released almost immediately from affiliates of the terrorist group celebrating the significant destruction of the more than 850-year-old Catholic church.

The Daily Mail reported that a poster produced by an Islamic State group-affiliated outfit known as the Al-Muntasir group began to circulate online while the historic Catholic church in the heart of France was still on fire.

An intelligence organization that tracks terrorism, the Terrorism Research & Analysis Consortium, discovered the poster and brought it to the attention of the media.

That poster featured a picture of the burning cathedral with a large caption in Arabic that read: “Have a good day.”

The poster also featured smaller subtext in French which read: “Its construction began in the year 1163 and ended in 1345. It’s time to say goodbye to your oratory polytheism.”

The destruction of the cathedral, which occurred on the day after Palm Sunday at the start of the Holy Week, was reportedly characterized by the jihadists as well-deserved “retribution and punishment” for the Christian West, according to SITE intelligence.

To be sure, there is absolutely no evidence that would suggest that the Islamic State group — or any other terrorist organization, for that matter — had anything to do with the horrific fire that threatened to destroy the famous medieval Gothic structure.

At this time, French authorities have expressed their belief that the terrible blaze was linked to an ongoing construction and renovation project at the cathedral.

Are you saddened by the destruction of the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris?

That appears to be the area where the fire initially started, prior to spreading across roughly two-thirds of the roof and engulfing the tall spire, both of which ultimately collapsed in the inferno.

Incredibly, nobody died in the massive fire, and only a handful of firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling the blaze. Amazingly, they were able to stop the fire from consuming the entirety of the ancient structure, particularly the two tall towers that grace the front facade.

Furthermore, heroic efforts were made to rescue and save irreplaceable and priceless artifacts and religious relics that had been stored in vaults deep inside the cathedral.

Unfortunately, the fire did cause incalculable destruction to the centuries-old woodwork, stained glass windows and painted walls that adorned the interior of the sprawling building.

It took nearly two centuries to complete the construction of the Notre Dame Cathedral, which became famous as much for its religious significance as its architecture and as a historical symbol of Western and European civilization. French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to have the cathedral rebuilt as soon as possible.

The Daily Caller, in reporting on the Islamic State group-linked celebration of the Notre Dame fire, reiterated the fact that the jihadist organization has not claimed responsibility for the fire, nor are they or their affiliates suspected of being involved in the matter.
