Rep. Omar, We Don't Care That You're a Black Immigrant. We Care That You Hate Americans

Share

Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar claimed President Donald Trump and Republicans don’t like her because she’s a black woman and an immigrant serving in Congress — but she couldn’t be more wrong.

Omar made the comments at an anti-Trump rally on the front lawn of the U.S Capitol on Tuesday. Founders of the “Black Lives Matter” movement and communist professor Angela Davis organized the event, according to Democracy Now.

During the event, Omar referred to the president as “the occupant of the White House” and claimed that Republican criticism of her is rooted in racism and bigotry.

“The thing that upsets the occupant of the White House, his goons in the Republican Party, many of our colleagues in the Democratic Party, is that they can’t stand that a refugee, a black woman, an immigrant, a Muslim, shows up in Congress thinking she’s equal to them,” she said.

Republicans don’t criticize Omar because she’s a black woman or an immigrant — Republicans criticize her because she’s an anti-Semite who apparently hates large swaths of the American people. “This is not going to be the country of white people,” she defiantly said, as if such an assertion would somehow help the country’s divisions.

Omar infamously brushed off the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something” during a speech earlier this year.

Nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives because of radical Islamic terrorism on 9/11, but Omar belittled the attacks and loss of American lives. Talk about making a molehill out of a mountain.

And the context makes the comments even worse; Omar made the remarks during an event for CAIR, the Council for American-Islamic organization that has potential ties to terrorist groups.

Do you think Rep. Omar is anti-American?

That’s not the only anti-American statement to come from Omar. In a recently resurfaced tweet from 2017, she attacked U.S. soldiers who fought and died in Somalia during 1993’s Battle of Mogadishu.

American soldiers were attempting to deliver vital food and medical supplies to Somalis — Omar’s own people — when Somali militants attacked them. During the fighting, 18 American soldiers were killed and 73 were wounded.

It’s OK to have a non-interventionist perspective, but it’s disturbing that Omar defended the Somali militants who killed 18 Americans.

There’s no basis, no foundation, for Omar to believe that Republicans hate her because of her immutable characteristics.

The problem isn’t that Omar is a black woman and an immigrant. Conservatives criticize her because she is anti-American.

The Western Journal has contacted Rep. Omar for additional comment on her remarks but did not receive a reply in time for publication.
