Watch: Passenger Captures Shock Fight Between Snake and Lightning-Fast Bobcat

Share

Conservative Tribune is based in Arizona, and I have to say I’ve seen my fair share of wildlife wackiness during my time in the Grand Canyon State. It’s sort of like America’s Australian outback, only without Paul Hogan involved in any way, shape or form. They should work on that, really.

With or without earthy, aging Australian comedians, however, the Arizonian outback is still mighty intimidating. Scottsdale real estate agent Laura Lucky caught a glimpse of just how dangerous things can be even inside the Phoenix metro area.

According to KNXV, Lucky was with some clients in her car when they spotted a bobcat and a snake fighting it out on the sidewalk.

The snake — which certainly looks like one of the many rattlers in Arizona — got in the first few shots.

“I slam on the brakes, and I realize there’s a rattlesnake right in front of him and he’s almost toying with it, almost like playing with it,” Lucky said.

It didn’t take long, however, for the bobcat to get the upper hand in the battle.

In the end, the bobcat was the clear victor, as it walked away with a severely injured snake in its mouth.

Meanwhile, Lucky was left to sell her clients on the neighborhood after watching two animals in a potential fight to the death.

“I was telling my clients, don’t expect this,” Lucky said.

“Please don’t be worried because I swear bobcats are harmless and rattlesnakes you just stay away from and they won’t bother you.”

Would you have run away in this situation?

Bobcats don’t have immunity to rattlesnake venom, so it’s unknown whether or not the cat in question here ended up surviving. KTRK noted that “it’s normal behavior for bobcats to take on snakes, even if they’re venomous.”

Twitter users, meanwhile, had their own take on the confrontation:

As someone who likes a good rattlesnake dish every now and then (tastes just like chicken, albeit with a slightly gamier, more upfront flavor), one can hope that the last part is true. If so, one hopes he paired it with a nice Shiraz. Rattlesnake goes very well with Shiraz.

This doesn’t answer the important part of the whole story: Did the clients end up buying the house? No word yet, but with the possibility of this kind of outback battle in the neighborhood, one can imagine they were having second thoughts. They shouldn’t. Arizona is an amazing place, after all. Just be careful if you take your dog out for a walk.
