Oops: Moore Snatches Mic Back After Realizing Hogg Doesn't Know Election Laws
This is one production Michael Moore probably wishes he never got involved in.
After the propaganda manufacturer/movie director screened his new movie “Farenheit 11/9” at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday, he made the mistake of handing the microphone to American anti-gun teen-celebrity David Hogg, who promptly used it to come awfully close to ignorantly suggesting Canadians donate to American politicians. (That’s against the law, though Hogg clearly didn’t know it.)
Moore had to quickly correct Hogg and take the microphone back, but not before Hogg had a chance to make a fool of himself.
“I have a question for you guys: Who’s ready to save America?” Hogg asked the crowd of film lovers, most of whom were not American citizens. “Who’s ready to make America the country we say it is on paper, and make it the actual country that it wants to be?”
The largely Canadian audience cheered.
Hogg then began to make comments that were critical of certain American states not allowing felons to vote in elections, according to The American Mirror.
“Turn that shame into your vote,” Hogg demanded passionately, before meekly adding on, “if you’re not Canadian.”
He didn’t stop there. He went on to suggest that Canadians could contribute to American candidates.
“I think Canadians can donate to political campaigns in the United States,” he said.
Moore nodded his head “no” at Hogg.
“Well, uh, vote here,” Hogg said, which caused laughter from the audience.

It will come as no surprise to most readers that Hogg’s speculation about Canadians donating to U.S. campaigns was completely wrong.
Foreign contributions to U.S. elections are illegal under United States law.
As an article published by the University of Kentucky Election Law Society put it:
“The Federal Election Campaign Act states in unambiguous terms that any contribution by a foreign national to the campaign of an American candidate for any election, state or national, is illegal. Likewise, anyone who receives, solicits, or accepts these contributions also violates the statute. Foreign national, in this case, means anybody not a US citizen that doesn’t have a green card.”
Unfortunately for liberals everywhere, Moore allowed Hogg to make even more embarrassing comments a little later in the program.
Hogg called out the IRS and asked the agency to investigate President Donald Trump for receiving “$30 million from Russia via the NRA.”
He was wrong again and — Moore didn’t correct it this time.
The truth, according to The Daily Wire, is that the NRA allegedly received $2,500 from a few people with Russian addresses over the span of a few years. That sort of contribution would not be illegal unless it was used for “electioneering purposes.”
Hogg’s comments should be embarrassing to him.
