Ocasio-Cortez Gives Pathetic Response When Asked About Crisis in Venezuela
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-identified socialist, refused to answer a question about Venezuela’s brutal socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro.
The crisis in Venezuela became violent earlier this week after pro-Maduro forces used military vehicles to plow over protesters.
The violent chaos is the result of the socialist dictator refusing to transfer power peacefully to Juan Guaidó, who is recognized as the legitimate president of Venezuela by the United States and several other nations.
Unfortunately, the chaos in Venezuela is the result of its socialist government, but far-left U.S. lawmakers such as Ocasio-Cortez are unwilling to give up on socialism.
“Violence is horrible,” Ocasio-Cortez told National Review when asked about the conflict in Venezuela.
Ocasio-Cortez refused to answer if she believes Maduro, the socialist dictator, is Venezuela’s legitimate president. The far-left representative said that she will “defer to caucus leadership on how we navigate this.”
That’s an awfully pathetic and hypocritical response from someone who has built her entire political career on challenging traditional Democratic leadership.
Don’t forget that Ocasio-Cortez won her district in New York by challenging a beloved member of the Democratic establishment, Rep. Joe Crowley.
After Ocasio-Cortez was elected in November, she immediately began challenging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and even participated in a far-left protest at Pelosi’s office.
Movements should care about elections, because we can elect people who will fight with our movements.

In February, Ocasio-Cortez infamously dubbed herself “the boss,” even though she hadn’t served two months in office at that point.
“The power is in the person who’s trying, regardless of the success,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “If you’re trying, you’ve got all the power. You’re driving the agenda.”
“Like I just introduced the Green New Deal two weeks ago, and it’s creating all of this conversation. Why? Because no one else has even tried,” she added.

“So people are like, ‘Oh, it’s unrealistic. Oh, it’s vague. Oh, it doesn’t address this little minute thing,’” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “And I’m like, ‘You try. You do it. Cuz you’re not. Cuz you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss. How about that?’”
The far-left lawmaker challenges Democrat leadership and refers to herself as the boss, but she will “defer to caucus leadership” when she is pressed to comment on a brutal socialist regime.
Instead of acting like “the boss,” Ocasio-Cortez is meekly hiding behind Democrat leadership because she doesn’t want to address the failures of socialism.
