NPR Rushes To Edit Fake-News Hit Piece as Don Jr. Goes Nuclear

Donald Trump Jr. used Twitter to attack the left-wing establishment media after NPR published and retracted a fake-news hit piece that accused him of lying to Senate investigators.

“Donald Trump Jr.’s 2017 testimony to Congress that his family real estate negotiations with Russians concluded without result ‘at the end’ of 2014 contrasts Michael Cohen’s guilty plea in federal court stating talks continued through June 2016,” NPR originally tweeted on Friday.

But that account was incorrect, as The Federalist’s Sean Davis pointed out in a Twitter post on Friday.

Trump Jr. called the story a sign of “desperation.”

Instead of issuing an apology, NPR retracted the tweet and claimed it had only “mischaracterized” Trump Jr.’s answers to Senate investigators.

In response, Trump Jr. had his own cutting remarks:

“I guess this is as close as I’ll get to an apology where yet another ‘bombshell’ bites the dust,” he wrote in a Twitter post that included NPR’s new tweet.

“Pro tip: don’t just rush to publish anything thinking that it’s the got ya you so desperately want it to be. CNN has the market cornered on that… let them own it.”

Anti-Trump liberals in the media seem intent on making former Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s guilty plea bigger than it actually is, even if it means falsely roping the Trump family into it.

On Thursday, Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about Donald Trump’s proposal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. Originally, Cohen said talks ended in January 2016, but said Thursday that discussions went on until June, 2016.

Regardless, there is still no public evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Trump’s proposal to build a Trump Tower in the Russian capital were completely legal.

However, lying to Congress is a serious crime, and NPR shouldn’t have made such a serious accusation without proper research.

NPR’s accusations were also peddled by Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California.

“Obviously the truth isn’t convenient for your objective so I imagine you’ll stay quiet!” Trump Jr. tweeted at Swalwell.

As American lawmakers, Leahy and Swalwell should be better informed, but that might be asking for too much from Democrats.

Debacles like this show how gullible Democrats are for unquestioningly accepting misinformation from the establishment media.
