NFL Tries Last-Ditch Effort to Regain Fans With Special Military Message During Super Bowl

The NFL is worried about its ratings — understandably so, after national anthem protests led many Americans to boycott the NFL. Now, the league plans to broadcast a special military honor at the Super Bowl.

According to the NFL, the league will salute 15 recipients of the Medal of Honor before the Feb. 4 game.

In addition, all 15 Medal of Honor recipients will be involved in the famous coin toss before the contest.

It’s clear that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wanted to do some damage control at the biggest game of the year.

“The NFL is proud to honor our nation’s heroes at Super Bowl LII,” Goodell said in a statement.

“These courageous individuals deserve to be recognized on America’s biggest stage.

“We are grateful for their service to our country and we are pleased to continue the NFL’s longstanding tradition of hosting special tributes to service members at the Super Bowl,” he continued, clearly attempting to hide the NFL’s recent record of allowing its players to disrespect the United States.

The announcement came shortly after the league caused controversy by declining to run an ad from the veterans group AMVETS that asked NFL players to “please stand.”

According to Independent Journal Review, the NFL said it wanted to avoid making a “political statement” by running the ad.

Will you be watching the Super Bowl?

AMVETS — and the organization’s many supporters — called the decision “corporate censorship.”

“Freedom of speech works both ways,” AMVETS National Commander Marion Polk told Army Times in an article published last week. “We respect the rights of those who choose to protest, as these rights are precisely what our members have fought — and in many cases died — for.

“But imposing corporate censorship to deny that same right to those veterans who have secured it for us all is reprehensible and totally beyond the pale.”

If Goodell and his minions wanted to avoid making a “political statement,” they would have stopped the league’s players from kneeling during the national anthem the second Colin Kaepernick took a knee.

This “military honor” looks like a PR stunt set up by Goodell to bring ratings back to where they once were.

Nice try, NFL.

America can see right through you.
