Newly Released Footage Destroys Claim That Kavanaugh Disrespected a Parkland Victim's Father
The confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh began in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, and to the surprise of nobody, it turned into ridiculous circus almost immediately.
While the circus-like atmosphere was certainly expected, what was unexpected was the sudden emergence of a “controversy” surrounding the nominee. But perhaps unsurprisingly, that “controversy” was quickly shown to be entirely contrived and much ado about nothing.
The “controversy” began when the father of one of the Parkland school shooting victims — Fred Guttenberg, father of victim Jaime Guttenberg — posted on Twitter that he had attempted to shake Kavanaugh’s hand at the hearing but had been ignored.
“Just walked up to Judge Kavanaugh as morning session ended,” Guttenberg wrote. “Put out my hand to introduce myself as Jaime Guttenberg’s dad. He pulled his hand back, turned his back to me and walked away. I guess he did not want to deal with the reality of gun violence.”

Of course, many in the liberal media quickly jumped on this “controversy” as a means to further smear Kavanaugh as literally the worst person in the world, but perhaps they should have checked their facts first prior to piling on the nominee.
Some even began to post video clips of the “incident” as if it proved their case, when in reality it undermined Guttenberg’s rather misleading assertion of what had actually happened.

Alex Griswold of the Washington Free Beacon noted as much in a tweet in which he posted, “It’s very difficult to watch the video of the incident and think that this tweet was intended to be accurate.”

Furthermore, it was pointed out in the comments on Griswold’s post that Guttenberg is a staunch opponent of Kavanaugh who attended the confirmation hearing with the express intent of blocking Kavanaugh from being confirmed, as per an earlier tweet from Guttenberg.
In other words, he set out from the start to cause a political confrontation and scene at the hearing, much like most of the other elected Democrats in attendance.
In the end, this and other “controversies” to emerge from the hearing are nothing more than further evidence that Democrats are in a panic over the fact they have no real way to stop Kavanaugh’s confirmation other than ridiculous attempts to smear his reputation and make him toxic to moderate establishment Republicans.
Such was the summation of a popular political pundit on Twitter known as Jeff B., who said in a two-part tweet, “The nutty stuff you’re seeing on Twitter right now (‘Kavanaugh disrespected the father of a Parkland victim!’ ‘WH staffer was throwing white power signs on camera!’ etc.) is a simple outgrowth of the recognition by Dems that there is no way to stop confirmation. That is all.”
Even those who are tweeting angrily about know in their hearts that it's all ginned-up nonce. That's not the point, really. It's half "throw whatever you can at the wall at this point and pray something sticks" and half insensate emoting to discharge a feeling of helplessness.

He added that Dems are simply to the point of throwing “whatever you can at the wall at this point and pray something sticks” in the hope of turning just enough votes to block Kavanaugh’s appointment.
Democrats know they have no prayer of stopping Kavanaugh from being confirmed to the Supreme Court, so they are instead hoping to derail the confirmation effort through delay tactics and disgusting attacks on the nominee’s character. While that seems like a pretty low tactic, it’s actually par for the course for Democrats these days.
