NBC's Christmas Attack on Trump Backfires Hours Later
A left-leaning mainstream media news outlet has egg — or should we say eggnog? — on its face after an article slamming President Donald Trump over Christmas ended up being off base just hours later.
On Christmas Day, NBC News published what can only be described as a hit piece, scorning the president for ignoring American troops during the holidays.
“Trump becomes first president since 2002 not to visit troops at Christmastime,” that outlet’s scolding headline declared.
“By staying home on Tuesday, Trump became the first president since 2002 who didn’t visit military personnel around Christmastime,” NBC declared in its article.
But there was a glaring problem: Not only did the above statement turned out to be false, but also it seems that NBC was in such a rush to smear Trump that its reporters tripped over themselves.
As we just reported, President Trump and his staff had been planning a major Christmas trip to Iraq all long.
“President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Iraq late on Christmas night to visit with our troops and Senior Military leadership to thank them for their service, their success, and their sacrifice and to wish them a Merry Christmas,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted on Wednesday.

“It was noted that the return trip from Iraq would make a stop at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where the Trumps will also visit with U.S. troops who are stationed there,” Conservative Tribune noted.
That’s a lot of holiday troop visits for a president who was just slammed by the media for ignoring the troops.
To be fair, news outlets didn’t know about the Iraq visit due to the major security concerns that go with such a trip. (And NBC News did put an editor’s note at the top of the piece reporting Trump’s visit after the fact.)
“A presidential trip to Iraq is a highly secret movement,” CBS News reporter Mark Knoller wrote on Twitter. “No advance notice to press other than press pool going along. Air Force One is boarded in privacy in hangar and departs under cover of darkness.”

But look at NBC News’s headline and article. It didn’t even wait until Christmas Day was over before slamming the president, who, ironically, was most likely prepping for his late-night Iraq troop visit around the same time NBC editors were pressing “Publish.”

And NBC’s declaration that Trump hadn’t visited the troops “during Christmastime” makes the smug article look even more dubious.
Christmastime obviously doesn’t refer to one specific day, but covers the days and weeks around Dec. 25. The outlet was chomping so hard at the bit to bash Trump, it couldn’t even be bothered to use accurate language or wait to see if its claim was true.
Once again, a narrative seems more important than reality — and this is exactly why Americans are turning off establishment news.
